Background

Serendipity Point Films is a motion picture and scripted television production company. The company was formed in 1998 by Robert Lantos immediately following his sale of Alliance Communications Corporation of which he was chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder. The company never used the word "point" on its logos, instead using a butterfly on one of the points in the text.

3rd Logo (1999-)

Logo: We see many monarch butterflies filling up the background. They all fly away, leaving one behind, perched up on top of a fancy "S" in "Serendipity" that resembling a flight trail. The butterfly's wings move a bit, then shine briefly.

Variants:

  • A still version with a white outline around the butterfly exists.
  • In newer films, the logo's look has been updated with much more realistic graphics.

FX/SFX: The butterflies moving, the shine.

Music/Sounds: Either the opening/closing theme of the show/movie, the same classy string soundtrack from the previous logo, or a rising guitar theme (sounding like the beginning to an Interpol song) with a whoosh that ends with a "ding".

Availability: Seen on movies and television shows produced by this company such as eXistenZ (on most prints), Sunshine, Stardom, G-Spot, Men with Blooms, and Barney's Version.

Editor's Note: The butterflies might surprise some, and the third musical variant may get on some people's nerves.
