Background

Granada Television International was the international sales holder for Granada Television formed in 1964 as Granada Overseas Limited to distribute Granada's programmes internationally. It was renamed as Granada International Television Limited (trading under the Granada Television International name) in 1968, and then rebranded under its trading name in 1978.

In 1995, Granada Television International was rebranded as British Independent Television Enterprises Ltd. [BRITE]. Eventually, BRITE merged with Granada LWT International to form Granada Media International.

Visuals: Same as the 1969 Granada logo and ident, but the text above reads "GRANADA TELEVISION INTERNATIONAL", sometimes with copyright information below.

Variant: On D-Day to Europe Victory and Battle for the Falklands, this logo appears with the 1969 ITN logo.

Technique: Same as the Granada logo.

Audio: Same as the Granada logo.

Availability: Pretty much seen on on international prints of Granada-owned shows of the time until being replaced by the next logo in 1990.

  • It also plasters the standard Granada logo on international broadcasts of their shows.
  • This is also kept intact on the MPI Home Video DVD release of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

2nd Logo (1990-1995)

Visuals: Same as the 1990 logo/ident, but with the text now reading "GRANADA TELEVISION INTERNATIONAL".

Variant: Starting in 1992, the background and logo has more shading.

Technique: Same as the Granada logo.

Audio: Same as the Granada logo.

Availability: Used on Granada-owned programmes for five years until being replaced by the next one.

  • Can be seen on some Maigret episodes.
  • Also appeared on a broadcast of Dancing Queen.

3rd Logo (1995-1998)


Visuals: Same as the 1995 logo/ident, but with the text GRANADA TELEVISION INTERNATIONAL" below.

Technique: Same as the Granada logo.

Audio: Same as the Granada logo.

Availability: Appeared on international airings of the first series of Cold Feet.
