Background

Google Play Music was a music and podcast streaming service offered by Google, launched on November 16, 2011. Users could store a maximum of 50,000 songs from their personal libraries for free. A paid Google Play Music subscription allowed users to on-demand stream any song in the Google Play Music and the YouTube Music catalog.

On August 2020, Google announced the process of shutting down all services on the app, in favor of YouTube Music and Google Podcasts. The process was completed on December 3, 2020.
