It has almost been a year and a half since I conceptualized the current AVID logo design that stands in the top-left of this wiki. September 22, 2022. Since I have no plans to return to the AVID Discord server, I feel like I should keep the history alive in some form and answer any of your questions that you might have about the AVID logo or one of its mascots, Ace Stounding, or anything about me! Sorry if I take a while to respond.

What program do you use to design the logo?

What program do you use to design the logo?

I originally designed it on Medibang Paint (the manga-focused equivalent of FireAlpaca), which is a raster program. It was later redrawn on a vector program by Plasticity and Nancer for the final released design. I used Medibang because I didn't know how to use a vector program like Inkscape or Illustrator (and I still don't) and it was the only art program I used at the time.

What makes you come up with ideas for logos? I.e the jrStudios logo or the AVID logo. Everyone who has a logo designed by you still uses them so I'm interested in your procedure.

Were there any scrapped concept versions of the logo before you settled on the current one?

The 2017 CLG symbol.
The 2022 AVID logo.

Most of my logo designs are remixes of previous logo concepts with my fare. I try to utilize some techniques to make the logo recognizable and cooler.

The AVID logo was based on its previous logo by Evan Hogan, back when it was the CLG Wiki. I utilize the interconnecting letters and rainbow gradients to create a snazzy new wordmark with the wiki abbreviation. My logo ideas come down to making the logo look cool enough.

Were there any scrapped concept versions of the logo before you settled on the current one?

The AVID logo has been practically the same as when I first came up with it. However, it had several revisions before settling into the well-known look. My initial versions were unreadable and it was tough trying to alter the design to make it read as "AVID" while not skewing too far into making a butchered mess. That is why the I and D are connected with three lines despite the letters being drawn with two lines. If it were two lines, you'd read it as "AVD."

Even after figuring out its uniform look, I still had to figure out how it should be colored and what font I should use. Ultimately, Nancer's AVID Sans font and his idea of the color gradient being the wordmark color itself would make its way into the final design.

Question for you Kris, uhhhhh, it says on the AVID logo page that in "Trivia" it says Originally, the text in the logo was meant to be gray. This was later changed to blue for unknown reasons. Do you know the reason for this?

Ok, I'm going to ask the heavy question we've all been waiting for.

Is Ace Stounding dating Vivi?

Judging based off the gallery of high-resoultion, well-drawn images on the site, it seems that their association is at least friendly, perhaps they keep things professional, as they are logo mascots, but is there any confirmation of this?

This question is a joke, but if there's anyone to shed light on this, it's you.

The animated logo was originally rendered with grey text. However, I requested Plasticity (who animated the original logo) to change the text to blue since the blue text looked fine against a black background. However, when Inaudible reanimated and updated the logo, he changed it again to grey. I dunno why.

The main logo variant always had blue text to keep it from looking dull. Ever since I finalized the logo, Discord members kept telling me to change it to grey. At this point, though, if they're gonna inject a smidge of purple into the gradient and get the monogram through liposuction, they might as well change the text to grey. What am I gonna do, complain about it online?

Is Ace Stounding dating Vivi?

Will there be plushies of the Ace mascot?

Plushies are expensive and generally not profitable enough for a niche website, so I don't think so. If you want a plush of Ace Stounding, you can order a custom plush for yourself, I'm fine with that.

Three questions: 1-What was your inspiration for creating the character Ace? 2-Have you ever had an interest in creating or participating in a web series or comic? 3-Why you were a somewhat "important" artist for AVID? Did you have any interest in becoming a mod on this Wiki?

Yeah so this one's more about you than anything else but, what were your early/beginning years of digital drawing like?

When I was messing around with my laptop in 2018, I didn't have a drawing tablet or a touchscreen. The only thing I could use to draw was the touchpad that was below the keyboard. As such, I drew stupid doodles on MS Paint, mostly for my YouTube videos or my Twitter (back when I had a Twitter). It wasn't until late 2018 that I started to take digital drawing more seriously, first with my failed webcomic, then with my illustrations that became the focus of my Instagram and DeviantArt (back when I had a DeviantArt). That's when I moved away from MS Paint to Paint.net, which resulted in a bumpy sort of style that went on until I started drawing with Medibang Paint, which had a stabilizer, making my drawings look more professional, along with my better understanding of shading and color.

My art became a little rigid and flat around 2020, which came about due to my increased laziness during the pandemic. However, by 2021, I started to make my style more rounded, rubbery, and cartoony after watching the Merrie History of Looney Tunes documentary, and I even tried to make my line widths more varied. However, I was still drawing with my touchpad, which was growing more and more exhausting and frustrating, resulting in less art being done digitally. By mid-2022, after finishing my Spares Reanimatedd scene, I stopped drawing with the touchpad and opted with either my computer mouse or my stupid Huion Inspirory tablet. When I switched to Photoshop and got my UGEE graphics tablet, though, I started drawing digitally more frequently, and my style hasn't changed much since. Before that, I designed my logo proposal and drew Ace Stounding for the Audiovisual Identity Database on Medibang... with a mouse. XD

What was your inspiration for creating the character Ace?
TLDR: Ace is based on the AVID favicon.
Before Ace, there was Izzy... and Dan! (not their real names)

After designing my logo for AVID, I also designed the favicon, which is the "A" itself. I thought it looked like an eye, like the Eye of Providence, and I decided to design a mascot around it. Before that, I sketched two very bland humanoid characters that lacked anything interesting. Ace, however, was practically a big pyramid head with a little body. I designed the rest of his body based on how it suited the simple pyramid head. His current uniform has the belt and shoulder pads because I thought they looked cool on him.

Have you ever had an interest in creating or participating in a web series or comic?

Of course, I do! I have a couple of comic and web series ideas I want to do one day. I have participated in projects, like writing and drawing comics for Baby Lamb Comics, and storyboarding and writing three episodes for CRiTORA. Hopefully, I can be less busy with school and priorities and focus more on what I love.

Why you were a somewhat "important" artist for AVID? Did you have any interest in becoming a mod on this Wiki?

I drew decent art and logos for other people and created Ace Stounding. Being an artist is the only thing I'm good at, and as such, I was never interested in becoming a mod or admin of the wiki. Considering all the conflicts I got into, I would've done poorly.

Firstly, welcome back man!

Secondly, I honestly do love all the work you've done for AVID as a brand. AVID's logo is vibrant, while Ace and Vivi are as vibrant as the logo. Thank you.

Thirdly, my question: What originally inspired you to create the AVID logo as well as the mascots?

I just realized both of those questions were already answered mb.

What made you decide to make the original mascot rfc?

No problem! You can also thank Plasticity for forcing me to use his color palette.

Thirdly, my question: What originally inspired you to create the AVID logo as well as the mascots? I just realized both of those questions were already answered mb.

To be fair, I haven't told you specifically what inspired me to create the AVID logo. It was September 2022, and I was in a Discord group chat alongside Nancer, Pundone, and others. I wasn't in the group chat for very long, but in that brief time, I was informed about the CLG Wiki getting a rebrand and their plans of submitting their logo designs to pair with the proposed AVID rebrand. I thought it was neat. However, I didn't know what design I wanted to pitch, so I moved on. It wasn't until one day, probably before or during September 22, after I got off the school bus and was walking home that I suddenly got an idea for my design. A set of worm-like lines that spell out "AVID." And so I rushed home and designed the first version of the then-unreadable monogram. And the rest is history.

What made you decide to make the original mascot rfc?

I didn't make the RFC. You did. I was too chicken to make one myself without sounding boastful or something.

I have 2 more questions that I forgot to ask yesterday, and these ones has been at the top of my head for a while.

What gave you the idea of the original mascot roster (Ace, Vivi and Jeff), and why? And what are you opinions on the rejected AVID mascots/logos that never made the cut?

Because they're... AVID Heroes! I think.
What gave you the idea of the original mascot roster (Ace, Vivi and Jeff), and why?

They were the most liked and drawn characters and some of the people were clamoring to have all or either one of them be the mascots. So, in December 2022, I drew them all together based on the cover art of Sonic Heroes, which set in stone their potential to become mascots.

And what are your opinions on the rejected AVID mascots/logos that never made the cut?

I dunno who they are, but they look cool.
Ace and that guy! (December 2022)

Some of the rejected mascots and logos were honestly bad. They were either whipped up in one hour without a second thought or badly executed. Some of the logos tried to merge the letters like my logo, but they failed due to some of them either looking like a mess or reading more like "AVD" or "ND."

Of course, there are some designs that I liked. Colorband's and Spotlight's (earlier version without the rainbow gradient) logos were pretty good, and that guy in particular looks pretty cool. They're a pyramid guy based on one of the AVID logos, just like Ace, so I'm biased here lol.

Ah. I especially agree with the logo part (I know that with expecience lol). I do find it kinda hard to imagine AVID without the logo you designed, so your logo was honestly the best choice (a close second being Plasticity's)

Your art's looking pretty nice. Really like the style.

That brings me to my question; what had an influence on your overall artstyle? (whether its a show, movie, game, etc.)
