Background

In 1989, The channel along with Superchannel were split. During this time being, the channel also made the use of the slogan "The Movie Network", which was later renamed into the channel itself in 1993.

1st ID (Early 1989)

Visuals: There is a footage snippet of the First Choice Superchannel ident. As it reaches halfway the footage, the screen zooms out to reveal that it was inside the First Choice logo on the same background from before. The background turns black and the texts "FIRST CHOICE" and "THE MOVIE NETWORK" with a gold bar above it fade in. The logo shines. The trademark symbols appear next to the texts.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A majestic fanfare, ending with a whoosh. A rhythmic theme plays shortly after.


2nd ID (1989-1993)


Visuals: Unknown.

Variants:

  • At it's later years, the byline for Astral Communications zooms out and stands below it. The trademark symbol is replaced with a registered symbol.
  • On The Great Diamond Robbery, The logo appears in-credit with the Astral Communications byline and the registered symbol.

Technique: CGI by Side Effects.

Audio: A powerful synth fanfare.
