Background

Diamond Films is an Argentinian film distributor founded in 2010. Over time, the company expanded itself, opening branches in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Chile and most recently, an European branch in Spain. Distributing films from studios like STX Entertainment (along with other independent distributors), it has become the biggest independent film distributor in Latin America.

1st Logo (2013-2016)

Visuals: On a dark space background with breifly visible stars, a blue diamond fades in and flickers two times before reappearing. As it spins in a somewhat tilted angle, the text "DIAMOND FILMS" in a grey texture fades in below the diamond and each letter spins into place at the same time. The diamond and text then zoom back slowly before a huge flash occurs, revealing a Praxis effect-like explosion with a circular energy wave. The diamond and text slowly zoom in until they almost fill the screen as the logo fades out afterwards.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A very faint, almost quiet ominous note can be heard in the first seconds of the logo, then a noisy (but not too loud) explosion sound plays accordingly.

Availability: First spotted in trailers for Diamond's releases during 2013, with the full version appearing on theatrical releases and online on videos promoting Justin Bieber's Believe. Last spotted around 2016 on trailers for Nine Lives and The Man Who Knew Infinity in the regions where Diamond distributed those films.

2nd Logo (2016-2019)

Visuals: In another space background, a few diamonds can be seen in the distance. A bright light blue flash occurs, revealing a sea of other diamonds which zoom in from all corners of the screen. As most of them are passing by, one from the center starts to zoom into the center of the screen as a reflection appears below. The text "DIAMOND FILMS" in light blue appear via a downward wipe effect below the diamond, which spins counterclockwise a little before stopping as the rest of the diamonds in the background fade out, leaving a gradient dark blue background and the diamond and text on the foreground, with a blue light seen on the right. A bright flash appears in the top right of the diamond, which then disappears.

Technique: CGI by Art Kingdom Agency.

Audio: A much more bombastic soundtrack than the last logo, full of shimmering and other clean sounds, with a shimmery note being heard when the logo forms. When the flash appears, one last shimmer is heard that echoes.

Availability: Seen on theatrical releases and trailers (shorter version), mainly in Brazil, although it wasn't used only there. It was last spotted on the Brazilian trailer for Mid90s.

3rd Logo (2018-)

Visuals: On a black background, a diamond similar to the previous logo fades in on a black background, spinning clockwise. The text from the last logo also fades in below. The diamond then flashes two times at the screen before the logo fades out.

Variants:

  • A custom variant featuring the characters from UglyDolls can be seen on that film's Latin American/Spanish prints.
  • A custom variant was made for the release of Talk to Me, where the hand from the film can be seen below the diamond as the camera pans around them, as the hand grabs it in a stiff manner. After a few seconds, the hand and the diamond suddenly come closer to the screen with the diamond in the foreground, and the company name (now in a slightly reddish texture) quickly fades in.

Technique: CGI by Alexis Roses in Barcelona, Spain.

Audio: A lighter soundtrack than the previous logo, with different, quieter shimmers and a more ethereal note playing throughout.

Availability: Seen on Diamond's releases since 2019. [Examples?]
