Background

In September 1999, Carlton acquired ARD's share in Hamdon Entertainment and renamed the company as Carlton America, becoming the linchpin of Carlton’s TV production activities throughout North America. With the merger of Carlton Communications and Granada Media Group in place, Granada announced in November 2003 that Carlton America would merge with Granada Entertainment USA to form Granada America.

Logo (September 6, 1999-2004)

Visuals: Same as the standard 1999 Carlton logo, except that "AMERICA" appears just below. The background is also animated.

Variants:

  • On It's Your Chance of a Lifetime, this logo shares the screen with the Action Time logo.
  • A filmed variant exists, which is seen on some TV movies.
  • On the 1999 TV movie Switched at Birth (aka Mistaken Identity), the text "IN ASSOCIATION WITH" appears above the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None, or the generic theme for the U.S. networks.

Availability:

  • This logo is still preserved on many TV movies made by the company.
  • It is also preserved on a few television programmes.
  • Normally, this logo is also followed by the 1999 Carlton International logo on most airings.
  • The "IN ASSOCIATION WITH" variant of the logo is seen at the end of the 1999 TV movie Switched at Birth (aka Mistaken Identity), following the 1992 Alexander Enright and Associates logo, although current prints plaster it with the 2009 ITV Global logo instead.
  • This logo was also seen on a June 13, 2004 airing of the 2004 TV movie See You in My Dreams on affiliate WRGB.
