Background

BMG Interactive was a video game publisher and distributor owned by Bertelsmann Music Group. They mainly distributed titles outside of the United States, though they did operate an American subsidiary (which closed in 1997). In 1998, the now-dormant company was sold to Take-Two Interactive Software, with the company's assets later serving as a launchpad for Rockstar Games.

1st and Only Logo (1994-1998)

Logo: On a complicated, steel-like blue background, the letters "B", "M", and "G", in their corporate font, are hammered from behind with sparks coming out. Then the upside-down triangle, line, and text "INTERACTIVE" appear the same way at once, forming the "BMG INTERACTIVE" logo.

Variants:

  • On some games, the logo is still and in black and red colors.
  • On Duck City, the logo is drawn in a childish fashion against a wall of duck feet.

FX/SFX: The letters appearing with sparks.

Music/Sounds: A synth drone with four pounding sounds.

Availability: Rare. Seen on international prints of games such as Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2, Mass Destruction, and Tilt! Hyper 3D Pinball. Don't expect this to appear on Courier Crisis; BMG sold the American rights to GT Interactive Software. In America, this appeared on Spider: The Video Game for PlayStation.

Editor's Note: None.
