Background

Abso Lutely Productions is the company of surrealist comedy duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim and television producer Dave Kneebone. Although the company is spelled "Absolutely" in their logo, they are often referred to as "Abso Lutely" (even by Tim & Eric themselves, if their Twitter account is any indication) due to how it is pronounced and to differentiate it from another company with that namesake.

Logo (June 5, 2006-)

Visuals: On a black background is a box, with a pink border, containing a home video (from VHS) of Tim Heidecker's father (who looks a lot like Don Johnson with a mullet) wearing a orange hat in the middle of the screen, with the time stamp "JUN, 28 1991" in the bottom right-hand corner of the box. He turns to the camera and says "Abso...lutely!", as the text "ABSOLUTELY" pops up part-by-part below the box.

Trivia: Heidecker's quote comes from a then-15-year-old Tim asking him to sum up his vacation in two words.

Variants:

  • On Tim & Eric's Billion-Dollar Movie, a still version is used with "FILMS" under the name.
  • On the Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! episode "Presidents", a picture of Jim Boonie (a man who Tim and Eric harassed with the offer of a free house in the episode's cold open) is placed on the logo and the word reads "Jim Boonie this was a show for you.".
  • The Eric Andre Show has a few variations from select season finales.
    • Season 2 Finale: The logo is glitched with the "Abso...lutely" being played multiple times, sort of a parody of the YouTube Poop video compilations on its respective site.
    • Season 3 Finale/"Bird Up": Eric Andre appears instead of Tim's dad. Parts of the regular footage can still be seen around the border.
    • Season 6 Finale/"The Cold Episode": The episode's Fridge Keeper appears in place of Tim's dad, the pink border is removed, and the below text is replaced with "ABSO CHILLY" in a "cold" font. The Fridge Keeper also reads the new name.
  • Sometimes, "Productions" in white is added below.

Technique: Live-action with digital editing.

Audio: Heidecker's voiceover and some hissing in the background (attributable to the VHS tape the footage was sourced from).

Availability: First seen on the season 2 Tom Goes to the Mayor episode "My Big Cups", and on almost every single show from and/or co-produced by Tim & Eric ever since, such as Nathan for You, Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule, Comedy Bang! Bang! and much more.
