Background

Zodiak Media Group was a conglomerate formed by Italian media giant DeAgostini. It was originally composed of Zodiak Television, Marathon Media (France) and Magnolia TV (Italy) in 2008, and later expanded to the UK with the acquisition of RDF Television in 2010. Zodiak also had stakes in several smaller companies all over the world, including Touchpaper Television (UK), DIXI Company (Russia) and Yellow Bird (Sweden). In February 2016, Zodiak merged into Banijay Group, and the name, although retained in the Zodiak Rights and Kids divisions, was otherwise dropped.

1st Logo (2010-April 8, 2013)

Visuals: On a white background, there is the word "zodiak" with "media group" below. The text rotates from the left below until it becomes straight, while the DeAgostini eclipse symbol (a lens flare with a half sun in a blue sphere) moves itself into the "o". A lens flare then appears over the logo.

Technique: Simple 2D computer animation by Jamie Campbell.

Audio: A whoosh sound with a humming synth music, or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the first three seasons of the US version of Being Human, as well as other Zodiak shows.

2nd Logo (2013-2016)

Visuals: On a blue background with many stars, there is what appears to be a camera lens in the middle. The screen zooms in and there it is actually the DeAgostini symbol as a portal. The camera stops to reveal the word "zodiak" in a new font that casts light. The word "MEDIA" fades in below, and the logo rotates to its normal position.

Variant: There exists a still version in a weirdly shaped box with a wave of light behind it.

Technique: Seemingly complex 3D animation.

Audio: A rocket dive noise, followed by a synth theme.

Availability: Mostly unknown. The animated version could be seen on a showreel. The still version is rare as it is only used for corporate purposes and is only common by Zodiak units which modify the logo.
