Background

Vertigo Films is a British independent production and distribution company based in London that was founded by Allan Niblo and James Richardson in July 2002. Later in the 2010s, the company began producing TV shows.



1st Logo (2005-2010)

Visuals: The logo starts with "VERTIGO FILMS" with two diagonal bars to the right. The background changes colors from white to blue, orange, green, light blue, gold, purple, turquoise, magenta, and finally red while the logo fades out and appears again on each color change.

Variants:

  • A shortened version exists where only four colors are shown.
  • On The Firm, the logo is a neon sign with a similar color change sequence to the preceding Warner Bros. Pictures variant. This time, however, the lines change in their own sequence as opposed to the text.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Heart beats in sync with the animation. Otherwise, the opening of the movie.

Availability: Can be seen on Dirty Sanchez: The Movie, The Children, among others.

2nd Logo (March 9, 2007)

Visuals: As the logo from last time fades in, it changing colors from white to red and then back to white. Simultanously, it bulges, shakes, and gets bigger four times before the animation stops.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Same as before, but with only four heart beats.

Availability: So far, this was seen on Outlaw.

3rd Logo (2010-late 2010s)

Visuals: Against a black background with a gray light in the center, a red bar is seen flipping and rotating as it zooms out from the center. It reveals another red bar as well as "VERTIGO FILMS" with the two bars settling to the right of the text. The logo then proceeds to smoothly zoom in.

Variants:

  • On StreetDance 2, Walking on Sunshine, Pudsey the Dog: The Movie, the background is maroon and filled with white and yellow stars.
  • On Horrid Henry: The Movie, the background has smoke, a lens flare floating around, and is tinted blue.
  • On Pusher, the logo, including the center light, is light blue.
  • On Monsters: Dark Continent, the background consists of what appears to be a slow spinning space setting.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Whooshes when the bars fly and then two loud drum beats when stopping next by the text. Sometimes, it's the opening of the movie. The logo is silent when it was used as a de-facto home video logo.

Availability: Seen on Monsters, Pudsey the Dog: The Movie, StreetDance 2, Horrid Henry: The Movie, Pusher, among others. It was also used as a de-facto home video logo.

4th Logo (May 30, 2013)

Visuals: On a black background, the company's name in black with a low-saturated gold texture zooms out of the screen. Next, the bars from last time follows zooms out as well.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A loud, dramatic buildup at the beginning and then a quieter bang when the two bars land next to the text.

Availability: Seen on Hammer of the Gods.

5th Logo (January 18, 2018- )

Visuals: This is simply an in-credit notice of the 2005 logo.

Variant: Starting with Press Play (2022), an on-screen variant appears in front of their films. This is simply the logo centered on a black background.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The opening/ending theme of the movie/show.
