Background

Univisión Canal 2 was a former channel in Costa Rica.

Ident (Late 1980s-2000)

Visuals: Over a black-blue gradient-colored background, several lines fade from the upper side of the screen to the bottom. Over it, there is a sparkle moving from left to right. The screen then fades to a light purple map of Costa Rica, along with another abstract-squared yellow map representing parts of San José and Puntarenas. When the lines stop fading, a lavender shooting star appears over the map. Over the shooting star, a rounded square in white appears zooming in and rotates to the center of the screen in front of the other elements. Once it stops, the text "TV" on an orange shadow and "2" on a blue one, unfold at the same time. The country then becomes striped, with the shooting star now being a nebula as it explodes, with only the white background intact while the text's shadows are unfolding. Once the text is formed, the Univision logo from the time and the text "UNIVISION" appear over the unfolded text. The ident then cuts to the Univision ident of the period.

Technique: Scanimation mixed with CGI.

Audio: A big band theme with an organ and some xylophones, following an announcer which says "Transmitting for all the national territory, Channel 2, Costa Rica's Univision." Part of the theme also plays on the Univision ident.
