Trinity Broadcasting Network

Background

The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) is an international Christian-based broadcast television network based in the United States founded in 1973 by Paul and Jan Crouch. The network broadcasts worldwide via satellite and through broadcast television nationally.

1st Logo (1982-1992)

Visuals: On a black starry sky background, the camera zooms out between two dark periwinkle planks, which then flip up to reveal a cross. A white dove then flies on the top of the cross, leaving a yellow trail, and the red text "TBN" zooms out at the bottom of the cross, leaving a silver trail as it does so. The logo sparkles three times, then slowly zooms in.

Technique: Early CGI.

Audio: A few whooshes, then a 3-note synth chime theme synced to the sparkles appearing. An announcer says "This is TBN, the Trinity Broadcasting Network."

Audio Variants: Unknown.

Availability: Served as a network ID and a station ID for TBN's stations.

2nd Logo (1987-2016)

Visuals: Superimposed on footage of a waving US flag, we see the following text:

with a copyright stamp underneath.

In early years, the text would say:

From 1991 onward, the text would be in Times font.
Starting in 1993, the flag is transparent, and the Statue of Liberty can be seen on either the right (1993-2010) or the left (2010-2016).

Availability: Seen at the end of Praise the Lord until 2016.

3rd Logo (1992-April 28, 2013)

Visuals: On a gray background with constantly spinning lights, there is a light brown disk with tan continents rotating. A silver bird shape settles on top, making the disk send out circular signals. A blue-outlined shield with a gold and darkviolet banner reading "TBN" and a violet crown over it zooms out, surrounding the disk. A silver and gold banner with the words "Trinity Broadcasting Network" and two golden lion and supporters also appear as the disk turns into a cross. The lights continue to spin.

Variants:

At the beginning of Praise the Lord, the logo is played backward.
Seasonal variants of the logo would also play instead of the regular music.

Closing Variant: At the end of Praise the Lord, the logo is almost still, except for the shining. The previous logo then follows this.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A crystal chime, then a whoosh, which is punctuated by an ascending flute flourish that changes into a heavenly orchestral theme. An announcer (Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.) then says "This is the Trinity Broadcasting Network".

Availability: It was phased out in 2012 in favor of an HD ident.

4th ID (2003-)

Visuals: There is the shield forming with the dove flying into the TBN symbol and a moving crown appearing from above while the tiger and the mustang taking a step and later stand to form the logo. The TBN banner and the gold ribbon banner later appear after the logo is formed and a white ribbon saying on the left "Celebrating 30 years" and "1973-2003" on the right.

Variants: A variant without the 30 Years ribbon also exists.

Technique: CG animation

Audio: A beautifully orchestrated piece of music with brief soft opera notes done by Sensory Overload Music.

5th ID (2010-2016)

Visuals: After the opening for Praise the Lord finishes, a yellow streak of light suddenly appears and flashes into us, changing the screen to a shot of the TBN emblem made from glass, zooming out to a comfortable position on a cloud background. The emblem flashes, as two more light streaks, appear from it and flies into the screen.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The opening theme.

Availability: Seen on Praise the Lord from 2010 until 2016.

7th ID (August 9, 2012-2016)

Visuals: On a blue background with clouds, the camera pans down as the TBN crest logo moves angle by angle, and later zooms out with the TBN Family of Networks banner and the logos for the TBN networks (both owned and affiliated) on the bottom.

Variants: Unknown.

Technique: CG animation.

Audio: The 1993 TBN theme and the announcer saying "You're watching TBN, part of the Trinity Broadcasting Family of Networks".

8th ID (2016)

Visuals: On a starry sky background is the TBN crest as the camera pans down and zooms out with the TBN letters and the Family of Networks banner forming. The "43 Years" banner later appears being placed on the center of the crest.

Technique: CG animation.

Audio: The 1993 TBN theme and the announcer saying "This is TBN, part of the Trinity Broadcasting Family of Networks: Celebrating 43 years of God's miracles."
