Background

Throwback Entertainment is a Canadian video game publisher founded in 2006 that focuses on re-releasing games. The company is known for acquiring assets formerly held by Acclaim Entertainment and has since purchased various other titles.

1st Logo (2015-)

Visuals: There is the text "THROWBACK" in white on a black background. The "T" in the name is longer than the rest of the word, and on the top of the letter is the rainbow arrow from Acclaim's logo, which points down to the "O".

Variants:

  • On Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance, the logo is gold, and the "O" is circular.
  • On TrickStyle, the logo is purple.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Appears on the trailers for the re-releases of Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance, TrickStyle, and Extreme-G 2.

2nd Logo (2016-)

Visuals: On a black background, the "THROWBACK" text writes itself. Then, a flash of light adds the color to the logo as it shines.

Technique: 2D animation effects.

Audio: A quick whooshing sound.

Audio Variants:

  • On Judge Dredd 1995, the opening theme to the trailer plays.

Availability: Appears on trailers for the re-releases of D: The Game, Tunnel B1, Judge Dredd 1995, alongside indie titles The Lost Gardens and Carnage in Space: Ignition.

3rd Logo (November 2020-)

Visuals: On a black background, each letter in the word "THROWBACK" flies in and hits the screen, leaving blue fire traces. Every time a letter hits the screen, the arrow-line flashes in blue. When all the other letters come along, the blue arrow-line becomes rainbow colored as before, and the logo and arrow flashes, After the logo forms, the logo shines while the light starts to shine from beyond the arrow.

Trivia: This is a recreation of Acclaim's 1995 logo, but with some changes.

Technique: Flash animation.

Audio: Sounds of letters flying, and it ends with a synth sounder.

Availability: Appears on trailers for the re-releases of Viper and Power Slave DOS.
