Background

This is the filmmaking arm of Chinese conglomerate Tencent, founded in 2015. It also funds American films.

1st Logo (2015-2017)

Visuals: There is a metallic narrow room with a blue light. The screen then zooms out to see it's an blue I-shape which resembles two opened doors on a black background. A penguin (the mascot of Tencent QQ) then appears on the middle of the doors as "Tencent Pictures" in the corporate font with its translation atop it in a translucent blue style.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A door creaking sound then sounds of metallic doors moving.

Availability: Can be seen on their first films.

2nd Logo (March 10, 2017-2021)

Visuals: There is a pair of golden doors open to reveal a white-tailed eagle flying through a city built on mountains in the clouds. The doors of a temple we fly through open to a castle with a dragon resting on it, which roars. We go through the doors of the castle as another dragon breathes fire at it. We then see a Mad Max-style race as we see the final door, which then reveals a futuristic, curved elevator shaft-like structure in space. We then fly on the shaft as we see the Tencent Pictures logo in space, in light blue and zooming closer. The space background fades to black.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the logo is shortened to when the logo is revealed.
  • Later, the Tencent logo change its logo to match with its parents' company along with the "Pictures" font are same as the Tencent's font.
  • On Kong: Skull Island, the logo is in the sky and is metallic, like the WB and Legendary logos. The camera zooms into the penguin silhouette to start the movie. On small widescreen prints of the film and on yU+co's website, the logo is in open-matte. This combo was done by yU+co.

Technique: CGI by Grass Jelly Studio.

Audio: A dramatic fanfare composed by Tzu-Chieh Wen, along with suitable sound effects for the action.

Audio Variant: On A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, the fanfare is played on a music box.

Availability: Seen on movies from the company starting with Kong: Skull Island; albeit using a variant. The long version is seen on Chinese productions. It can be also seen on Chinese prints of Terminator: Dark Fate.

3rd Logo (2021- )

Visuals: There is the last logo at the point where it forms, but there are noticeably less stars and nebulae. As the screen zooms in, there is an eye-shaped galaxy and a galaxy of the same type. The screen then zooms out on the Tencent Pictures logo, but in a different shade of light blue, in a different space background.

Variants:

  • Like the previous logo, sometimes the logo is shortened to when the logo is revealed.
  • The English text is sometimes larger and the translation is smaller, and their positions are switched.

Audio: A new dramatic fanfare.

Availability: The long version can be also seen on Chinese productions.
