From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (October 1, 2004-December 17, 2009)

Visuals: The logo appears from white, zooming in with blurry overshadowing. It reads "SUMO" in the black brush stroke font (Baloney), and "DIGITAL" on a red plate below. Below them is a website URL: "www.sumo-digital.com".

Variants:

  • After 2007, the logo was enhanced with the F9E byline.
  • The DS and PSP versions has "HANDHELD" written instead of "DIGITAL", and the hand symbol near the logo.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Western motives with flute and drums.

Availability: Seen on OutRun 2006, Virtua Tennis 3, A Christmas Carol and some other games for PSP and DS.

2nd Logo (February 23, 2010-March 27, 2015)

Visuals: Black streaks splatter here and there, and we follow them in close-up. The picture zooms and becomes the logo, where above old familiar "SUMO" pattern is an image of monstrous sumoist with red eyes. The logo then undraws and clears to black, leaving only shining eyes.

Variant: A bylineless version exists, used after the company being spun off from Foundation 9 Entertainment in 2014.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Sounds of paint splattering.

Availability:

  • Seen on games from the time, notable appearances include Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Virtua Tennis 2009.
  • The bylineless version is notably used on Forza Horizon 2 Presents: Fast & Furious for the Xbox 360.

3rd Logo (July 26, 2016-)

Visuals: On a black background is paint streaks rapidly striking on the screen. While the screen zooms out, they rapidly splatter with the symbols in different colors until the logo with the "S" on top arrives.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Whooshing sounds come from the paint streaks.

Availability: Appears on newer games, such as Snakepass, Team Sonic Racing, and Hood: Outlaws and Legends.
