Background

Studioul Cinematografic București (English: Bucharest Film Studio) was a classical Romanian film studio that produced over 118 films led by film director Pavel Constantinescu.

1st Logo (September 20, 1951-March 1, 1963)

Visuals: On a silver sunburst background, there is an MGM-like round frame made of a black ribbon with white borders. On each end of the frame, in top-to-bottom order, there are the texts "STUDIOUL", "CINEMATOGRAFIC", "BUCUREȘTI" and "prezintă:". Inside the frame, there's a model of the 1952-1965 emblem of the Romanian People's Republic over a gold background.

Variants: Most of the variants are either B&W or color, but it depends on the film.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: Usually none or the opening theme of the movie. Sometimes, it can use a cymbal crash before heading to a dramatic orchestral theme.

Availability: This was seen in most Romanian films during the Late 1950s and the Early 1960s, such as Mitrea Cocor, Desfasurarea, Mîndrie, Afacerea Protar, Scurta istorie, La 'Moara cu noroc', Doua lozuri, Ora H, Dincolo de brazi, Telegrame, Mingea, Valurile Dunarii, Furtuna, and Vacanta la mare.

2nd Logo (April 6, 1965-September 4, 1972)

Visuals: The logo now consists of a 2D render of an athenaeum with "STUDIOUL" acting as the dome, "CINEMATOGRAFIC" within a filmstrip acting as the support, and "BUCUREȘTI" acting as the pillars of the athanaeum. "PREZINTĂ" is seen underneath the logo.

Variants:

  • The style of "prezintă" is entirely lowercase on Gaudeamus Igitur, Haiducii, and Vin ciclistii.
  • Colorized versions of the logo exist.
    • On Vin ciclistii, the athenaeum is placed on an indigo background and the athenaeum is colored gold and is entirely surrounded by white outlines.
    • On Sfînta Tereza si diavolii, the athenaeum takes place on a teal background and is entirely in beige.
    • On Șeful sectorului suflete, the athenaeum takes place on a cream background and is entirely maroon. The logo is paired with the F.L.F. logo.

Technique: Mainly cel animation.

Audio: Usually none or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: This was seen in some Romanian films during the Late 1960s and the Early 1970s, such as Gaudeamus Igitur, Haiducii, Șeful sectorului suflete, Moartea lui Joe indianul, Vin ciclistii, Canarul si Viscolul, and Sfînta Tereza si diavolii.

3rd Logo (November 18, 1968)

Visuals: Superimposed against the opening scene of the film, the new logo fades in the middle, which consists of an outline of the sun rising against a bulging "CINEMATOGRAFIC" with the "T" acting as a flaming torch, along with "STUDIOUL" arching above the sun and "BUCUREȘTI" sitting below "CINEMATOGRAFIC", all of which are colored red. "PREZINTĂ" abruptly appears underneath the logo a few seconds later.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: None.

Availability: Only seen on Columna.
