Background

Simple Pictures is a horror production company based in London and Seoul that was founded by Matt and Simon Halsall in 2010.

1st Logo (August 29, 2012)

Visuals: First is the white outlined and stylized words "SIMPLE PICTURES" on a black background. After a few seconds, the screen cuts to an animation of a zombie man seemingly wearing a hoodie yelling with his face melting, expanding, and growing more twisted and injured.

Technique: Hand-drawn animation for the writhing zombie.

Audio: The ending theme of the showreel.

Availability: Only seen on their 2012 showreel.

2nd Logo (September 17, 2013-)

Visuals: Fading in is the same animation of the zombie from before with more frames of the expanding tissues. When the sequence rewinds backwards, the stacked cut-out words "SIMPLE PICTURES" appear in Timepiece (the same font used by the A Clockwork Orange logo).

Variants:

  • On 100 Bullets, the logo starts with dark VHS static, which later on glitches and shows the standard logo within that filter. Once it finishes, the screen glitches again with the logo briefly shifting towards the camera and then cutting to the opening of the movie.
    • The Visual Style of 100 Bullets has this variation on a old TV set with the camera slowly zooming in.
  • On Something in My Mind, only the animation sequence is shown, meaning the company's name does not show up whatsoever. Plus, once the sequence have rewinded back to the very first frame, it plays in forward again.

Technique: Same as before with the text appearing included.

Audio: The opening theme of the film.

Availability: Current; seen on their many short films available on Vimeo starting with If I Had a Heart. Was also seen on Durihana, 100 Bullets, Something in My Mind, and Happy Birthday Duri. The animation sequence of the zombie was also seen on their website.
