Sega Saturn (Commercial Tags)

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Tag (1994-1997)

Visuals: On a black background is the blue Sega Saturn logo in the center of the screen. Above it are the words "Amazing software from Sega Saturn." Below it, a white "SEGA SATURN" wordmark (in the font for the first two bootscreens) flashes in.

Technique: Computer effects.

Audio: A hard metallic-like cling.

Availability: Seen on Japanese commercials for games by Sega for this console during this period.

2nd Tag (November 1997-November 1998)

Visuals: On a black background, a lightning bolt strikes down towards the center of the screen before expanding horizontally and clearing up, forming metallic versions of the Sega Saturn logo and wordmark from the previous logo (except the wordmark is in its proper colors). The "N" sparks a little bit before it clears up as well.

Variant: A short version exists.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: An electric spark noise, a male voice announcing the console name, and then two shorter spark noises. For the short version, it's just the first spark noise.

Availability: Seen on Japanese commercials for games by Sega for this console during this period.

Legacy: This tag has been popular among fans of this console due to it appearing on commercials for the infamously memorable Segata Sanshiro campaign.
