Seasonal Film Corporation

Background

Seasonal Film Corporation is a film producer and distributor from Hong Kong founded in 1974 by Ng See-yuen. The company went defunct in 2008. Their first film was called Little Superman and the last film they made was called Legendary Assassin.

1st Logo (March 9, 1974-1985?)

Visuals: On a black background, a blue dot appears and flashes a couple of times. Three blue lines then form a spiral around the dot. Once the spiral has finished forming, some blue Chinese text appears. At the same time, "seasonal film corporation" appears underneath. Below that is a thin, blue line. Once that all has appeared, two blue dots form underneath the line. It then fades out.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: Three drumbeats, followed by a horn fanfare.

Availability: Seen on most, if not all films the company made during this time period like Drunken Master and Diyu Wu Men, among others.

2nd Logo (May 2, 1986-1992?)

Visuals: On a black background, a blue dot fades in. One blue line forms around the dot. Once that line has finished forming, the word "seasonal" forms. Another blue line forms around the dot, which is followed by the word "film". A third blue line forms around the dot, which is followed by the Word "corporation". A very thin blue line forms around the spiral. Once that has finished forming, two very small blue dots appear underneath the thin line. It then fades out.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on their films during this period like American Shaolin.

3rd Logo (1991?-1995)

Visuals: On a black background with a blue gradient at the bottom, a blue dot fades in on the left. Three blue lines form around the dot one-by-one. A thin blue line forms over the spiral. The same Chinese text from the 1st logo appears letter-by-letter. "SEASONAL FILM CORPORATION" also appears letter-by-letter underneath the thin blue line. It then fades out.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on films like New Dragon Gate Inn and Dragon Inn.

4th Logo (October 21, 1997, 2007-December 5, 2008?)

Visuals: On a black background is the same spiral from the previous 3 logos in blue water. The spiral then comes out of the water and the words "seasonal" and "film corporation" appear. Then the logo turns light blue. Sometimes, after a few seconds, the company name and the Chinese Cantonese/Mandarin translation of that name fades in.

Variant: There is a variant where the logo fades out earlier, and there is no Chinese text.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None or the opening theme to the film.

Availability: Seen on films like Bloodmoon and Kung Fu Wing Chun. It may also appear on He yue qing ren and Legendary Assassin.
