Background

SCi Entertainment Group (formerly Sales Curve Interactive) was a British video game developer formed in 1988 in London, England. The company published games under the moniker Storm until 1993. In 2005, the company purchased Eidos, merging their operations in 2006 and becoming the largest game publisher in Great Britain. In 2008, the company briefly renamed themselves to Eidos, before being acquired by Square Enix the next year.

1st Logo (1989-1993)

Nickname: "Storm Profile"

Logo: There is a red box bearing the word "STORM" above and "SALES CURVE" below. Between them, there is a white circle drawn over the blue box. Inside the circle we can see the face made from horizontal lines. The line on eye level has another color (gray or red).

FX/SFX: Very simple animation of drawing lines.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Common on games before 1993.

2nd Logo (1994-1997)

3rd Logo (1997-2000)

Nickname: "Rotating SCI"

Logo: On a black background, the chrome blue letters "sci" fly out one after one, then make their usual position.

Variant: A still version with copyright info underneath the logo was seen on Carmageddon 64.

FX/SFX: The letters moving.

Music/Sounds: The opening sound effects of the game.

Availability: Seen on Carmageddon (preserved on the Steam port), Spellcross, and Live Wire.

4th Logo (2000)

Nickname: "Thunderstone"

Logo: The SCI letters are revealed from close view, rotate and take usual position. Their borders are made from live yellow substance. After complete, the letters become blue and background turns white.

FX/SFX: Moving letters.

Music/Sounds: Harsh thunder sounds.

Availability: Seen on Mille Miglia for PS.

5th Logo (2000-2003)

Nickname: "Super Rotating SCI"

Logo: The familiar, 3D blue, reflecting letters of SCI slowly rotate around in the close view. Then they lose their 3D look and dot above i becomes a crescent.

Variant: The logo was still with a black BG on Conflict: Desert Storm.

FX/SFX: Moving letters with their reflections.

Music/Sounds: Hard rock note, followed by a four-section rock note.

Availability: Scarce; found on The Italian Job and Gumball 3000.

6th Logo (2003-2005)

Nickname: "Crystal Labyrinth"

Logo: We move among the curved crystal walls and release out of them. Then the construction swirls and blasts the screen. There are letters "SCi" in 3D, made of silver, same style as the previous logo. Below, there are the same material word "GAMES".

FX/SFX: Animation of letters.

Music/Sounds: Ascending note followed by a bang blast.

Availability: Common on Richard Burns Rally, The Great Escape, and Conflict: Desert Storm II.
