Background

Regent Releasing (formerly Regent Entertainment) was a film distributor and earlier a television production company founded by Paul Colichman (former head of IRS Releasing) and Stephen P. Jarchow in the mid-1990s. In 2009, the company was merged with Here Networks to form Here Media.

Regent Entertainment

1st Logo (1996-April 27, 2000)

Logo: On a white background, the shiny black 3D text "REGENT" slowly pans out. After doing so, the text "ENTERTAINMENT" fades in underneath.

Variants:

  • There is a still version where the logo is on a metallic background, the logo has large shadows coming behind it, and it is being shown by a spotlight.
  • There is also a closing print variation.

Technique: The letters arrange themselves. None for the variant.

Music/Sounds: A short flute/string tune with a glockenspiel that turns into an orchestral fanfare, none, or the closing theme.

Availability: Rare. Can be seen on some prints of I'll Remember April (most use the 3rd logo) and on The Crimson Code/Red Team, as well as other TV movies and films of the time. The closing print version was used until 2000.

2nd Logo (April 5, 1999-November 2000)

Logo: We see the logo revealed, starting from the sword. The name shines when fading in, with "REGENT" now in yellow and all other logo blue. The figure also possesses certain glow effect.

Technique: The logo reveals itself and shines.

Music/Sounds: A quiet string theme. However, new prints of the movie include the 4th logo's music.

Availability: Was seen on I'll Remember April.

3rd Logo (June 4, 1999-January 9, 2000)

Logo: On a blue-gray background, we see a stylized blue man with a sword, shaped like letter "R". The company name is seen below in black.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: Either a short breezy synth tune or the closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare. It was seen on Free Enterprise and Britannic.

4th Logo (2001-2009)

Logo: TBA.

Variant: Sometimes, the Regent Releasing logo mixes with this pattern.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A deep swish sound followed by a deep synth tune.

Music/Sounds Variant: On Cave In and Terror Peak, there's a low tone version of the theme.

Availability: Common. Can be found on older Christmas movies aired on Lifetime. Also seen on most Here! made-for-TV movies, and preserved on DVD releases of Regent Entertainment films of the time period, with Nuclear Hurricane, The Delphi Effect, Force of Impact, Phantom Below, Total Eclipse, Solar Destruction, and Snowman's Pass being some of the movies to have this logo.
