Background

Réservoir Prod is a French television production company founded by Jean-Luc Delarue in June 1994. After Delarue died, Lagardère Studios acquired the company, which was bought by Mediawan in October 2020.

1st Logo (12 September 1994-13 June 1995)

Visuals: It starts off on a white background with the tip of moving water on the bottom of the screen. As it rises up, nearly covering the screen, "Réservoir prod." is revealed on the top portion. A goldfish is seen swimming across the water, revealing "présente" underneath the company name. Right after exiting the screen, the logo crossfades to white.

Technique: 2D computer animation and live-action.

Audio: A windy whip sound effect followed by water flowing. While "presente" is fading in, a few underwater bubbles are heard flowing.

Availability: It appeared at the beginning of season 1 episodes of Ça se discute. While it no longer airs on television, similar to other news magazine shows, some episodes from this period can be found on the show's official YouTube channel.

2nd Logo (19 September 1995-17 March 1999)

Visuals: On a white background, the transparent top portion of flowing water rises, revealing the logo from before albeit slightly less bolded. After the company name entirely appears, "presente" fades in below while the water continues to rise.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The sounds of an ocean shore.

Availability: Like before, it was seen on episodes of Ça se discute from this period, which can also be found on the show's YouTube channel.

3rd Logo (24 January-22 August 1998)

Visuals: In an underwater setting, a cartoon of a strange, white fish with red dorsel fins and gold eyes swims in from the top right, spitting out the logo from before. This time, the words are in yellow and white respectively and they are positioned on the bottom of the screen. The fish swims away quickly after the logo's position is fixed. After ripping for a second, the logo crossfades to "présentent" on the center of the screen with the fish from before barely sticking out from the top right corner.

Technique: Cel animation and 2D computer animation.

Audio: Underwater bubbles are heard flowing for most of the logo. A mechanical crash-like sound effect plays when the text comes out of the fish.

Availability: It only appeared on Les 30 Dernières Minutes. Unlike Ça se discute, said series can only be found through original television airings.

4th Logo (24 March 1999-8 September 2022)

Visuals: On a white backdrop, the metallic text "RÉSERVOIRPROD", with the diacritic and latter word in white, fades in and deblurs while its lateral faces slightly expand from behind. The logo additionally has a transparent black glow from behind and a flowing water-like surface is seen waving within the fade-in sequence. After the transition is complete, "PRÉSENTE" fades in below.

Variants:

  • There is an alternate indicator variant where "UN PROGRAMME" is shown above the logo. Unlike "PRÉSENTE", said indicator does not fade in.
  • There is also a later widescreen variant where the logo is smaller.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A percussion jingle with pop-like sounds alongside rattling sound effects.

Availability: This logo is sometimes cut on some shows from this period as they would go straight to the opening of the series, notably Maison à vendre and Recherche appartement ou maison. However, it still appears on later series of Ça se discute as well as Toute une histoire and Ça commence aujourd'hui. They can be found through broadcasters' websites as well as their individual YouTube channels. Its final appearance was on the Ça commence aujourd'hui episode "Vie amoureuse: aucun homme n'arrive à la cheville de leur père!".

5th Logo (9 September 2022-)

Visuals: On a white background, "UNE PRODUCTION" in a spaced-out effect fades in above a 2D version of the previous logo. Here, the diacritic and "PROD" are in grey. Then, the Mediawan byline animates below: multiple thick black slashes are drawn in and form the company name while two lines coloured purple and red expand from the left and right respectively.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: It appears on newer episodes of Ça commence aujourd'hui starting with "Ils n'étaient que des enfants quand l'un de leur parent s'est donné la mort".
