PolyGram Video/USA Home Entertainment (Feature Presentation Bumpers)

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Bumper (August 24, 1994)

Visuals: On a dark blue background with a PolyGram Video logo wallpaper, the silver stacked words "FEATURE PRESENTATION" zoom out ultra fast. A red sparkle appears on the F, and the words shine twice.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A low, drawn-out synth note, a whoosh when the text appears, and a higher synth note when the sparkle appears.

Availability: Only known to have appeared on Four Weddings and a Funeral.

2nd Bumper (October 12, 1994-August 18, 1998)

Visuals: On a blue background with a PolyGram Video logo wallpaper, the white stacked words "FEATURE PRESENTATION" zoom in ultra fast.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on some PolyGram Video releases. Some of the last releases to use this were 1998 VHS of The Graduate and certain prints of The Borrowers.

3rd Bumper (August 18, 1998-2002)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background with a "POLYGRAM VIDEO" wallpaper, a large, silver "FEATURE" in 3D flies down from the above right from the screen while "PRESENTATION" (also silver and 3D, but smaller than "FEATURE") zooms in at the bottom. Then they fade out via a stretch effect.

Variant: USA Home Entertainment tapes have their respective logo in the background.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on some PolyGram Video and USA Home Entertainment releases from the era, such as What Dreams May Come, Barney's Great Adventure: The Movie and certain prints of The Borrowers. Strangely, the Polygram version of this is also preserved on the 2000 MGM Home Entertainment VHS of Malice.
