Namco (Commercial Tags)

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Tag (1990s)

Visuals: Over a rocky green surface is the Namco logo in grey. A gold, crystal-like fish suddenly appears from the right side of the screen and devours the logo, causing steam to pour out from the fish.

Variant: A short variant exists.

Technique: A mix of motion-controlled animation and live-action.

Audio: A strange fanfare composed with a keyboard and some metallic clicks, along with whistling noises when the steam appears.

Availability: Seen on Japanese commercials for games by the company during this period.

2nd Tag (early 2000s-2006)

Visuals: Over a white background is red lines and several copies of the Namco logo all over the screen, which eventually merge to form one singular Namco logo.

Variant: There would sometimes be the text "Are you playing?" above the logo.

Technique: Computer effects.

Audio: Same as the 1999 variant of the 1st logo.

Availability: Seen on Japanese commercials for games by the company during this period until it merged with Bandai in 2006.

3rd Tag (2005)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a gold horse gallop into a gold circle. Once it gets in, the horse freezes in place and the scene zooms out, revealing the circle to be part of the number "50". Above it is the Namco logo, and below it is the word "ANNIVERSARY", also in gold.

Trivia: The horse is actually Namco's original logo until 1971, back when it was called Nakamura Seisakusho.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A high synth note, followed by an enhanced version of the previous tag's music.

Audio Variant: At the end of some commercials, it would just be a single woman announcing the company name.

Availability: Seen on Japanese commercials for games by the company during 2005 (the company's 50th anniversary).
