Background

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (Norwegian: Norsk rikskringkasting AS), commonly referred by its initialism NRK, is the government-owned radio and television broadcasting company, and the largest media organization in Norway. It was founded on July 1, 1933 in Oslo as a replacement for privately operated radio stations in larger cities.

1st Logo (2000's-2012)

Visuals: On a black background is the "nrK" logo (which the "n" being made up of a rectangle and a parallelogram with its top left vertex being rounded, the "r" being made up of a rectangle and a circle, and the "K" being made up of a rectangle and an irregular six-sided polygon) in white, with the copyright symbol with the year of the program's release next to it under it.

Variant: Sometimes, a copyright symbol is left to the year of the program's release.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Can be seen on programmes affiliated with the company at the time, such as Ice Race and Brylkrem og Pinup.

2nd Logo (2012-2023)

Visuals: Multiple white paper folds form in a black background and form a circle. The circle zooms out as the rest of the shapes from the NRK logo from before fade in, along with the program's year of release under it.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Either none or the ending of the show.

Availability: Can be seen on programmes affiliated with the company, such as Lilyhammer and Famliliearven.

3rd Logo (December 31, 2023-)

Visuals: On a black background is a circle with a thin line next to it, both in white. The circle moves leftwards for a brief time before colliding with the line, forming an irregular six-sided shape next to the line, and a parallelogram left to the circle. The line turns into a rectangle, the circle shrinks, and another rectangle forms left to the parallelogram to form the NRK logo at the middle of the screen. The year of the program's release fades in under the logo.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Can be seen on recent programmes from the company, such as Barnas Nyttårstale 2023.
