Metromedia Video

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Logo (1984?-19??)

Visuals: Against a cream colored background, a silver colored, three dimensional VHS-like shape zooms into the bottom center of the screen. The text "METROMEDIA VIDEO" (with connected "ME"s, much like that of it's parent company) stacked on top of each other appears inside of the bar. After a second, a shimmer of light appears on the top left of the bar. The logo remains on screen for a few seconds before fading out.

Variant: An early version of this logo has a blue screen shrink to the lower right corner of the screen, where the logo is revealed on a dark blue gradient background. The bar also seems to be in a different position. The logo starts out blurred, but focuses in as the screen slides away. The animation then reverses.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A noise similar to an airplane is heard as the logo zooms in with a spring like sound for the appearance of the text. An arpeggio synth theme ("3 + 3" by Vangelis) is heard throughout the remainder of the logo.

Availability: The only known tape to have used this logo is a Spanish VHS of The Giant Spider Invasion.
