A Night at the Opera (1935):

  • On the trailer, it starts with the 1924 MGM logo. A lion that looks like Tanner is seen in the beginning and fades into a sequence of the Marx Brothers roaring like the lion, but since Harpo doesn't speak, he honks his bulb horn. In addition, the inscription on the ribbon changes to "Marx Gratia Marxes".



Ben-Hur (1959):

  • The 1957 logo is superimposed over storm clouds, and the company name and the "Trade Mark" text are not present. (The company name is seen after the logo.)

Red Dawn (1984):

  • The Diamond Jubilee text is light blue.

City Slickers (1991):

  • The MGM lion moos. This is seen on the digital trailer seen on the MGM website. The original theatrical trailers would have either the Nelson Entertainment or Columbia Pictures logos.

Once Upon a Crime (1992):

  • The MGM lion screams. Only on the trailer.

Clean Slate (1994):

  • Barkley, the dog from the movie, takes place of the lion and roars. This is seen at the end of the trailer while the beginning has the 70th Anniversary logo.

Fluke (1995):

  • A pup from the film takes the place of the lion and barks. Appears on a TV spot.

All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 (1996):

  • Charlie and Itchy are seen in place of the MGM lion.

3 Strikes (2000):

  • The MGM logo gets locked up in a jail cell.

The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course (2002):

  • The entire teaser trailer is set on the MGM logo with a different lion in the logo as Steve Irwin comes in and talks about the MGM lion and the film itself. At the end of the trailer he replaces the lion with a crocodile.


  • The TV promos and the film had a crocodile in place of the lion. The TV promos has the 1995 MGM lion roar sound bite while the crocodile roars.


  • Another TV spot features Steve Irwin in place of the lion and he exclaims his famous catchphrase "Crikey!"

Die Another Day (2002):

  • The logo (along with the 20th Century Fox logo on international trailer) is tinted in light blue and the lion "freezes" when ice surrounds the logo.

Agent Cody Banks (2003):

  • On the trailer, the MGM logo flashes in and while the lion roars, clips of the movie appear in and out.

The Brothers Grimm (2005):

  • The 1995 version of the logo (without the URL) is seen.

Casino Royale (2006):

  • A shorter version of the 1995 version of the logo is seen for a split-second before cuts to the Columbia Pictures logo for a split-second. The MGM lion roars once for a split-second, accompanied by the trailer's opening music. The logo is in black and white and the "www.mgm.com" web address URL is still intact. Only seen on international TV spots.

Valkyrie (2008):

  • The logo shifts closer for just a second. Only seen on the TV spot. This also includes the 20th Century Fox and United Artists logos.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012):

  • On a black and red cloudy background are the Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, and MGM logos. All are orange and have a bit of a blurry appearance and look to be made of stone.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013):

  • A still version of the MGM logo with the big orange letters "MGM" below that. It's in the middle of the Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions logos. Another variant has a black and gray 2-D drawing of the logo in the middle of the other said companies' logos. Seen only on the TV spots.

Carrie (2013):

  • Same as the G.I. Joe: Retaliation TV spot variant, but with the 1999 Screen Gems logo next to it.


  • On the second trailer, it's the same as the Hope Springs variant, with the last half of the 1999 Screen Gems logo next to it.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013): The logo is metallic gold and it is rusted. Also, it is on a black background.

  • On the teaser trailer, the WB, MGM, and New Line logos appear as wood.
  • On the Sneak Peak, the WB print logo, MGM, and New Line logos is metallic yellow. Also, it is on a black background.

If I Stay (2014): The logo is silver-blue and shares space with WB and NLC logos.


Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021):

  • The MGM logo is seen on a red smoke background.

Candyman (2021):

  • Same as the movie itself. Seen on the second trailer.

Licorice Pizza (2021):

  • Same as the movie itself.

House of Gucci (2021, International):

  • The 2021 logo is in the middle in a box with the Universal Pictures logo on the left and the BRON Studios on the right. Seen on the Australian Legacy Trailer.

Cyrano (2021, International):

  • The monogram print logo is seen in white next to the Universal Pictures and BRON logos over a blurry dark background with lights. Seen on the international trailers; the US trailers use the standard on-screen MGM and BRON logos instead.

The Beekeeper (2024): A swarm of bees buzz around the logo.
