Mariann Video

Logo (1981-1985)

Visuals: On a black background, there are two copies of the Mariann Video logo, which is in a dark pink-colored font that looks slightly similar to Eurostile. One zooms toward the camera while another zooms away from us. Once they meet in the center and join together, the two logos turn into an outline, and a yellow light on the logo twirls around for a bit, then settles into place, creating a trail for the logo, one part shooting downward from the top portion of the screen, the other shooting upward from the bottom portion of the screen, creating a smaller version of the logo that wipes itself in on both sides, then, the screen fades out.

Variant: A still version exists.

Technique: Computer animation or Scanimation and video feedback effects.

Audio: It begins with a gurgling synth sound, followed by a catchy disco tune (while the gurgles can still be heard), which crossfades to four bells, and four more synthesizer notes (and if you listen closely you can hear a vocoded voice singing "Mariann Video"). The still variant is silent.

Availability: It was seen on a VHS release of The Spook Who Sat by the Door.
