MTV Films/Logo Variations

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

These are the logo variations seen throughout the years by MTV Films.

200 Cigarettes (1999):

  • The logo starts at the point where the astronaut comes close to the camera.

The Original Kings of Comedy (2000):

  • The logo cuts in instead of fading out. It cuts to the next logo early.

Orange County (2002):

  • The part where the astronaut comes close to the camera is removed. Only on home media prints.

The Fighting Temptations, Tupac: Resurrection (both 2003), and Napoleon Dynamite (2004):

  • The logo is sped up. It's also worth noting that Napoleon Dynamite was the last film to use the 1996-2004 logo.

Coach Carter (2005):

  • This was the first film to use the 2005 logo. As with the Paramount Pictures logo, the logo briefly turns into a drawing before turning to normal.

Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2005):

  • The logo is slightly slowed down.

Jackass Number Two (2006):

  • The logo has a slight blue tint.

The Foot Fist Way (2008):

  • The logo is darker than usual.

Dance Flick (2009):

  • The logo is sped up. This was the last film to use the 2005 logo.

Eli (2019):

  • The 1996 logo is used. Here, the logo reflected onto the astronaut's helmet is the post-2010 MTV logo next to the text "Films", all in white. The logo zooms out with a fisheye-esque effect.

Jackass Forever and Jackass 4.5 (both 2022):

  • The 2010 logo is used.
