Background

MCPSTV is the television channel of Montgomery County Public Schools.

1st Logo (August 26, 2015-October 26, 2020)

Visuals: On a metallic steel blue surface, the camera pans away from the logo, the text disclaimer "PRODUCED BY MCPS TV COPYRIGHT ©(year in numbers)" and the Montgomery County Public Schools logo underneath. The MCPSTV logo consists of the former four letters in steel blue and inside a white slanted tube box. "TV" is in white and within a steel blue box with a long, left panhandle.

Variants:

  • There exists two alternate font variants:
    • The first has the text notice in a thick font and the MCPS logo is omitted.
    • The other features a serif font for the text notice and the MCPS logo is replaced with stacked text set to the same font as the above variant.
  • On "Social Distancing MCPS Message: We've Got This MCPS!", the logo is sped up.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None or the ending theme of the program.

Availability: It can be seen on many short news-related videos as well as some events from the channel in the late 2010's. These include the Are You Up to the 5th Grade Challenge series, MCPS Waymaking, and early episodes of MCPS Parent Academy To Go. It also appeared on a few board meeting videos such as Creating a Welcoming Environment in STEM Classrooms & Programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, later episodes of FYI... switched over to this logo after using the next for most of its run. It last appeared on the MCPS Waymaking episode "Ally Building & Creating Safe Spaces for Asian-American Students".

2nd Logo (January 26, 2018-March 6, 2020)

Visuals: This is an in-credit logo comprised of the logo from before except "MCPS" is in black and the right tube is colored green. Next to the logo is

Produced by MCPSTV
Rockville, Maryland

and underneath it is the copyright year.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the program.

Availability: It was only seen on talk show programs such as FYI... and Comunicándonos.

3rd Logo (October 23, 2020-)

Visuals: On a white background, multiple orange rings pop in the center of the screen. Afterwards, the logo fades in and zooms in and slowly backs away. Here, the logo is similar to the previous logo except in a different font, a flat appearance, with outlines (the left's border is thicker and the right), the colors used for the boxes are turquoise and white respectively, and "TV" is gray. Below the logo, the school district's full name in capitalization and a stacked format fade in alongside the copyright notice on the bottom.

Variants:

  • There is an early version where the color of the left box is in a darker shade of turquoise, a brighter shade of white and gray, and is slightly shifted towards the right.
  • A social media variant may sometimes be used, replacing the school district's name with the channel's Twitter account and YouTube link complete with their respective platform's icons.
    • A later version of this variant makes the font of these links thinner.
  • Sometimes, the end tail of the program crossfades into the sequence.
  • On MCPS Parent Academy To Go, the text on the last slide of the presentation is intact on the first several frames of the logo before fading out.
  • On "43rd Young American House", the logo flashes before fading to black.

Technique: Flash animation.

Audio: Two descending electronic chimes with a reverb effect. A faint pencil drawing sound effect can be heard during the second note.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the ending theme of the program plays over.

Availability: It first appeared on "The MCPS Equity Journey" video and was later seen on newer episodes of MCPS Parent Academy To Go and MCPS Waymaking. The early variant appeared on 2020 and 2021 episodes of the aforementioned shows while the normal variant debuted on the MCPS Reimagine, Reopen, Recover series. Said variant would later be seen on Students Speaking Up!, Well-Being Matters, Things to Know, and many individual news and events videos.
