Background

Little Caesars is a pizza restaurant founded in 1959 in Detroit. The company is the 3rd largest pizza restaurant in the world, with international locations in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. Little Ceasars is owned by Ilitch Holdings.

1st Logo (1987-2016)

Visuals: At the end of the commercial is Little Caesar (a cartoon version of Julius Caesar) doing something and saying "Pizza! Pizza!". In most commercials, Little Caesar is holding a spear with two pizzas impaled on it and/or flips the pizzas on the spear.

Audio: An announcer, as well as Little Caesar's dialogue.

Audio Variant: Little Caesar is given a new voice actor in a few 2012 commercials, and another one in commercials from 2012-2016.

Technique: 2D animation for Little Caesar.

Variants: There are plenty of variants for each ad.

  • Pizza By the Foot: Little Caesar is seen with a measuring tape in his hand, which he then stretches out; as he does, he measures the product shown above, which is a foot long. He lets go of the measuring tape and wobbles when it snaps back into place.
  • Pan! Pan! Pizza: There are two Pan! Pan! Pizzas, then two babies, who see the pizzas, crawl and babble. The Pan! Pan! Pizzas are taken away from them towards the end of the commercial, which causes them to cry. The screen cuts to Little Caesar and his baby brother Baby Caesar, who says "Pan! Pan!", hugging each other. The "Little Caesars Pizza" logo is seen underneath.

Legacy: This logo is well known for being both annoying and charming.

2nd Logo (2016-)

Visuals: The logo starts with Julius Caesar holding a spear with pizza impaled on it. The text "Little Caesars" is seen below. Julius then says "Pizza! Pizza!" and puts his spear down.

Variants: There are plenty of variants for each ad. Sometimes, the text will be extended to "Little Caesars Pizza" or have the byline "A Family Owned Company" under it.

  • Sometimes, the logo will be placed next to the product being advertised
  • On "Hamster", a dancing hamster mascot is seen dancing next to the logo.
  • In a more recent commercial from the company, the NFL logo is seen next to it. This is because Little Caesars became the official pizza sponsor for the NFL.
  • There is an extended variant where Julius flips the pizza on the spear and it comes down before he says his dialogue.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: Julius' dialog.

Audio Variants: On the NFL variant, Tom Brady says the line.

Availability: Can be seen on all of their commercials from 2016 onward such as "Hamster".

Legacy: Same as the last logo.
