Jim Henson Interactive

Background

Jim Henson Interactive was the multimedia division of The Jim Henson Company, founded in 1994. The company dealt with the digital expansion of the business, dealing with websites and video games based on their IP including The Muppets.

Logo (1999-2003)

Visuals: There is the "Jim Henson" logo in its corporate signature font zoom out of the screen. A blue floating light glows behind it, which then moves to the left of the logo and changes to a red color. It then moves under the logo and draws a red underline, while "INTERACTIVE" "drops down" along it. Sparks are seen forming under the red line as it is drawn under the logo. The light then flies off-screen and returns to the top of the logo (in its blue color again) to recreate the familiar "dot the I" sequence seen in other Jim Henson logos, however this time, the light explodes upon impact with the "i", leaving behind several falling particles.

Variants:

  • On Spy Muppets: License to Croak for GBA, the logo is on a white background, and the red underline is replaced with a black one.
  • On Muppet Pinball Mayhem, Kermit's head is attached above the logo.
  • An extended variant exists on Muppet RaceMania, which opens with a zoomed-in pan of the "Jim Henson" text, illuminated by the blue floating light. The camera then zooms out to a comfortable distance while the blue light flies to the top-left of the logo, and the whole thing then plays as normal.

Technique: CGI. For the variants, a still graphic.

Audio: After a drum roll, an orchestral rendition of "The Rainbow Connection" is played, which is then followed by a 10-note chime tune. Various sounds can be heard throughout the logo, such as "swoosh" sounds when the light moves around, a twinkling sound as the light draws the red line under the logo, and firecracker sound effects as "sparks" appear from the ball of light when it draws the red line and when the ball of light explodes during the "dot-the-I" sequence.

Audio Variants:

  • On Bear in the Big Blue House: Bear's Sense of Adventure and Bear's Imagine That!, a short electric guitar version of the Bear in the Big Blue House theme song is used instead of the normal logo's audio.
  • The Muppet RaceMania variant has an extended opening for the panning of the Jim Henson text, and Gonzo's screams and yelps of excitement (voiced by Dave Goelz: one of them is taken from the "Rumpelstiltskin" section in Muppet Classic Theater) can also be heard throughout. The fanfare also appears to be re-orchestrated.

Availability:

  • Can be seen on Farscape: The Game. Also appears on Muppet RaceMania, The Hoobs, Spy Muppets: License to Croak, and Muppet Monster Adventure for PlayStation.
  • For unknown reasons, Muppets Party Cruise instead uses the second Jim Henson Home Entertainment logo instead of this one.
