Background

Illusion Softworks was founded in 1997 by Petr Vochozka and Jan Kudera in the Czech Republic, and produced some successful games, including Mafia. In January 2008, the studio was purchased by Take-Two Interactive and was integrated into the 2K brand as 2K Czech.



1st Logo (1998)

Visuals: There is a stylized silver hat. Next to it is "ILLUSION" crossed by a thin line and "softworks" below aligned to the right.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Only seen on two games, both released in the Czech Republic only: Léto s Oskarem and Lurid Land.

2nd Logo (26 July 1999-23 November 2001)

Visuals: There is two greenish spaces on a black screen. One shows a scrabble starting with a gold dot and two eyes looking from the inside. The second one has the words "ILLUSION" in black and "SOFTWORKS" in gold.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Hidden & Dangerous and its addons.

3rd Logo (30 April 2000-4 November 2005)


Visuals: There is an orange crescent figure with another crescent protruding from it. "illusion" and "softworks" is seen below the figure.

Variants:

  • On Mafia, the logo is preceded by a long cutscene, where a gangster burns the logo on the arm of another gangster.
  • On Vietcong, the logo zooms below and remains there, while a sequence of other logos passes by.

Technique: A still digital graphic. For the Mafia variant, live-action.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Hidden & Dangerous 2 and its addons, Mafia, Vietcong and Flying Heroes.
