Background

Illusion (イリュージョン) is a Japanese game company founded in 1993, and is well known for their 3D porn games, mainly Koikatsu!, the Honey Select series, AI Girl, and way more lesser known titles. On July 14, 2023, Illusion announced that all game development and sales will cease on August 18, 2023. Because of this, their future game development would be made under the related company Illgames.

1st Logo (1993-1995)

Visuals: On a black background, 2 striped copies of the white word "ILLUSION", in a tall, thick, and italicized serif font, move from the top and bottom sides of the screen to meet in the middle. After they meet in the middle and rest for a few seconds, it fades out and back in, only this time it's colored in a 2-tone lavender color, and is surrounded by a white/purple gradient color. It waves sharply upwards once, and then fades out, leaving the original white text to fade in and quickly shoot off into both halves of the screen.

Variant: A shorter version just has the logo starting on the colored text.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: A triumphant synth fanfare, with a synth bang sound when the halves merge together, and a two-note ding when it splits apart. Usually, it's the beginning theme of the game or silence.

Availability: Seen on a majority of their early PC-9801 library, like Sei Senshi Mokkoriman (性戦士もっこりまん).

2nd Logo (December 15, 1995-1996)

Visuals: On a black background, the white text "ILLUSION" in a different italicized sans font, is seen with a slight peach glow around it. In the middle rests a red triangle, mostly broken up by the text into 2 pieces. The Katakana characters "イリュージョンコア" can be seen below in white.

Technique: 2D digital animation.

Audio: A rising synth tone.

Availability: Seen on later PC-98 titles like the PC-98 version of Aegeankai no Shizuku (エーゲ海の雫). The Windows version uses the next logo.

3rd Logo (December 15, 1995)

Visuals: On a cloudy sky background, the translucent text "ILLUSION" in a different font, emerge from the background and move forwards, while "Core" in a purple Times New Roman font fades in below it.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A noise that sounds like a laser going off.

Availability: Seen on the Windows version of Aegeankai no Shizuku (エーゲ海の雫).

4th Logo (1996-1997)

Visuals: On a black background, golden monoliths fly in from the top left of the screen and the camera flies over them, revealing them to be the text "ILLUSION" from the 2nd logo. They spin around when it does this. When they go off-screen, they zoom out so quickly that afterimages come in after it, and causes a lens flare to flash. When it dies down, the triangle parts are now added, and the logo fades out.

Variant: On 生本●, the logo fades out quicker.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A rising ethereal note that changes into a choir, as well as a gong hit. None on 生本●.

Availability: Seen on 生本● and 魔界.

5th Logo (December 26, 1997-1998)

Visuals: On a black background, the letters of "ILLUSION", now made of metal with bolts in them, fly all about the screen before resting into position. A metal triangle then flies in behind them, and a 4-pointed star of light flashes in, causing the triangle to disintegrate into the logo's triangle pieces. As the triangle glows, the "ILLUSION" text shed their metal shell to become a glowing yellow color, and the background inverts to white with the text becoming black.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Several strange wind-like sounds, before a heavenly note and the sounds of fragments falling off play.

Availability: Seen on DES BLOOD.

6th Logo (January 12, 2001-September 30, 2022)

Visuals: On a black or white background, there is a red circle surrounded by 3 red elongated trapezoids, arranged like a trinity star. Surrounding it is a circle of text, with the top saying "ILLUSION PRESENTS" with it positioned upright, and the bottom saying "IMPRESSION INSPIRATION INNOVATION" positioned upside down. "ILLUSION" in either their English or Japanese name is usually shown below it.

Variants:

  • The font of the name sometimes differs, but is usually in the corporate typeface.
  • The logo may appear in-credit.
  • An animated version appears on Sexy Beach 3. On a white background, the logo drops down from the top of the screen, bouncing from the recoil for a bit. It then spins around while zooming in before it quickly spins back out, and then "イリュージョン" fades in below.
  • Another animated version appears on @Homemate. The trinity symbol fades in and rotates around while zooming out, with it giving off 2 pink trails as it does. When it stops, it pushes in like a soft button, and the circle of text wipes in. The logo then shines as it wipes in "イリュージョン" as well.
  • An English animated version has the logo rotating while fading in. When it stops "ILLUSION" wipes in below.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: Mostly none, though their more recent games have a random voice from the game saying "イリュージョン." (Illusion.)

Audio Variants:

  • The 1st animated version had a plop when the logo landed, a whirl with a strange sound when the logo spins, and then a female voice saying the company name.
  • The 2nd animated version had a synth note play 1st, followed by a bubbly tune as the logo spins, and then a different female voice saying the company name.

Availability: Can be seen on many of their titles starting with 〜リバーシブルフェイス〜 尾行2, and has been mostly seen on their more recent titles until Room Girl.
