Background

Hong Kong Alpha Motion Picture Co./Seven Seas Motion Pictures Company (香港七海影業公司/七海電影公司) was a Hong Kong-Taiwanese film company, who are well-known for their Bruceploitation films. Due to poor box office returns, they closed some time after 1979, possibly 1983.

1st Logo (October 3, 1968-1979)

Visuals: Over footage of waves crashing against rocks, a teal triangle zooms in from the center to the left side of the screen. Below the right corner of the triangle is "ALPHA". A underline is then drawn to the right of it, spanning the entire screen before "香港七海影業公司", in traditional brushstroke script and read in the old right-to-left way, wipes in from right to left. Below it, "HONG KONG ALPHA MOTION PICTURE CO." wipes in from left to right. The logo remains on-screen for a several more seconds before it fades out, leaving the waves for a second longer before it cuts to the film.

Variants:

Sometimes, the logo is black.
On Gambling for Head, the logo is red on a black background, and is notably squashed vertically.

Technique: Live-action and simple motion-controlled animation.

Audio: The sounds of waves crashing. The Gambling for Head has a serious-sounding stringer.

Availability: Can be seen on some prints of their films, like Gambling For Head, Fist of Fury II, and possibly a few others. However, most films cut out any mention of them on many of the prints circulating around.

2nd Logo (June 5, 1975)

Visuals: On the black background, the triangle from before is seen in "orange". An underline draw to the right of it, spanning the entire screen like the previous. Following this, the word "ALPHA" appears below the triangle and the word "香港七海影業公司" appears letter by letter at the top of the underline. The translaton wipes in from left to right below the underline.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A scary-sounding stringer.
