Background

Hermes Video Home Entertainment (also known as Hermes Hellas) was a not very well known movie distribution company from Greece. Currently, we know that they were distributing films by Cerito Films in France, like for example the movie "Peur Sur La Ville", but very little is known for that company.

Logo (1980's)

Visuals: A still shot of a blue tunnel with radial lights and a grid on the bottom is shown. After several seconds, a blue starfield slowly zooms in and engulfs the screen. Then, an outline of a minimalist head of Hermes flips in from the distance and rests on the left. "HERMES VIDEO Home Entertainment" in a stacked format zooms out below and align itself to the bottom of the drawing. Then, "Παρουσιάζει" stretches in from the bottom right and is positioned to the bottom right of the company name. Several seconds later, the logo slightly enlargens and flips away, followed by the background, which leaves a trail effect.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: An excerpt of "Theme From Antarctica" by Vangelis.

Availability: Not a lot is known about this company distributing any other films other than movies produced by Cerito Films in France. Even still, it is probably rare to see any tapes distributed by that company due to how unknown it is. This one was seen on the Greek copy of "Peur Sur La Ville" on VHS, released probably somewhere in between 1984-1986 in Greece.
