Background
Until it completed its transition to 24-hour broadcasts on December 25, 1981, HBO used this ident whenever it signed on.
Ident (1975-December 25, 1981)
Visuals: The then-current HBO logo appears on a black background, with a solid tricolored trail consisting of the colors red, yellow and blue to the left of the "H", and a shining star-like light between the "B" and "O". The ident is still.
Technique: A printed image.
Audio: A male announcer says the following: "Welcome to Home Box Office subscription television, bringing you great movies, sporting events and original shows, unedited and commercial-free. It's good to have you with us."
