Background

Graphic State was a British game developer that was formed by Claire Hill and Richard Whittall in 1997 to develop games for handheld devices, and operated Graphic State Wireless, a division to develop games for mobile phones. The company shuttered in 2003.

1st Logo (1999)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a blue rectangle. On the top left, there is the Graphic State logo, which consists of a blue rounded rectangle with the text "gS" and three dots over a white box. Below it was the text "Graphic State" over a lighter blue rectangle. And we see three icons. And underneath is a white rectangle with a copyright date.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Only seen on the unreleased demo of StarTrek for Game Boy Color.

2nd Logo (29 December 2000-2001)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the text "DEVELOPED BY" in a blue gradient. Below that is the text "GRAPHIC STATE" with three lines on the left and right side of the text. Below it was the text "GAMES" in a Bank Gothic font. And underneath is the rectangle with the same Graphic State logo from the last logo.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on LEGO Stunt Rally and the unreleased game Absolute X for Game Boy Color.

3rd Logo (2001)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the same Graphic State logo from the previous two logos over a white line with a white sun on top. Below it was the text "GRAPHIC STATE" in a Bank Gothic font, and below it was the same "GAMES" text from the last logo.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the unreleased Game Boy Color game of Equestriad 2001.

4th Logo (27 November 2001-15 February 2002)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a blue gradient rectangle, with the glowing text "developed by" on the top left. And below it was a blue-white gradient rectangle with the Graphic State logo on the left, and on the right is the text "GRAPHIC STATE GAMES", and there is the URL shown below the logo.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the Game Boy Advance games of Cruis'n Velocity and Dark Arena.

5th Logo (17 April 2002-1 August 2003)

Visuals: On a sky blue background, there is a white rectangle with the Graphic State logo from before wiping in. Then three boxes in blue wipe in, with the first rectangle showing the blocked text "DEVELOPED BY" on the top left, then a blue outlined rectangle with the text "GRAPHIC STATE" in a futuristic font, and the another blue rectangle, containing the company's URL, shown on the bottom right.

Later Variant: On the same background, a white rectangle wipes in, and the Graphic State logo zooms out. Then two rectangles slide in from the top left and bottom right, and then a outlined rectangle appears and the letters zoom out.

Technique: 2D sprite animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: The original version was seen on Star X, ZooCube and the prototype version of Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride for the GBA, while the later version appears on the retail version of the latter.
