Background

Gashin Strong Bass System was a system that was introduced by Namco in 1997 for their System 23 arcade system board, specifically for their games Time Crisis II and Crisis Zone. It was simply comprised of a bass amplifier that was hooked up to the arcade's sound system, which amplifies the bass frequencies of the speakers. The system was also used in Time Crisis 4 in 2006, which ran on the PlayStation 2-based Namco Super System 256 arcade hardware and featured a 3.1 channel sound configuration (which comprised of the left, right, center (voice), and subwoofer (bass) speakers). The word gashin means "crash" or "impact" in Japanese.

Logo (December 13, 1997-March 29, 1999, June 20, 2006)

Visuals: On a black background, the word halves "GAS" and "HIN" move in from the left and right side of the screen respectively. As the halves collide with each other, the screen fades to white (similar to a flashbang), forming the word "GASHIN" (which is surrounded by two white-colored bars on the top and bottom of the word). On the bottom of the logo is the text "STRONG BASS SYSTEM."

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: An impact sound effect can be heard after the letters "GAS" and "HIN" collide with each other.

Audio Variants:

  • On Crisis Zone, a whooshing sound effect can be heard after the impact.
  • On Time Crisis 4, an explosion sound effect is used instead.

Availability: The logo only appears on the arcade versions of Time Crisis II, Crisis Zone, and Time Crisis 4 after the Namco logo.
