Background

This is Gary Scott Thompson's vanity card.

Logo (September 22, 2003-September 10, 2014)

Visuals: On a sunny day on top of an ocean, there is a small circle of sand sticking out of the water with a palm tree on it. Near the palm tree is a cartoon version of Gary Scott Thompson, who is perched on the tree and holding a clipboard while he's thinking, and ingrained in the sand is "GARY SCOTT THOMPSON", with "PRODUCTIONS" below it. A coconut falls out of the tree and hits Gary's head before falling down and replacing the second "O" in "THOMPSON". Gary puts his foot down and looks behind him, then starts writing a script on the clipboard.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the sun is alternately moved to the upper-left corner.
  • On Protect & Serve, the logo is slowed down and the colors are slightly brighter.
  • On Taxi Brooklyn, the logo is in a small box in the middle of the screen.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Wind and seagull cries and Gary going "Ow!". NBC airings used the generic theme or an announcer spiel.

Availability: Seen on Las Vegas, the failed pilot of Protect & Serve, 2008's Knight Rider, and Taxi Brooklyn.
