Background

Film City Limited is a Hong Kong-based film production and distribution company, founded by Daniel Lam Siu-Ming and Danny Wong Lung-Wai.

Logo (1989-1998)

Visuals: As the camera pans around some pinkish gold liquid, a gold segmented cylindrical skyscraper illustration emerges from it, followed by a square with a cutout of some skyscrapers. Camera turns to face the symbol, rectangular sprocket holes appear on the left bottom-up, making a filmstrip and completing the symbol. After a few seconds, the logo fades out, and "FILM CITY (HONG KONG) LIMITED PRESENTS" along with the Chinese translation fade in.

Variant: On F***/Off (1998), "FILM CITY (HONG KONG) LIMITED PRESENTS" does not appear.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A slow, uplifting orchestral fanfare with triangle tinkles for the appearance of sprocket holes.

Availability: Seen on some films by the company, such as The Longest Nite, F***/Off (1998, 亞李、爸爸兩個大盜), Expect the Unexpected, and A Hero Never Dies.
