Background

Encore Films Pte. Ltd. (Chinese: 创艺电影私人有限公司) is a Singaporean film production and distribution company. Established in 2003 by Singaporean director and producer Joyce Lee with the goal to "bringing quality films to the audience in the South East Asia region". It distributes mainly Japanese films in the Southeast Asian market along with titles from Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong/Macau and Taiwan) and South Korea as well as titles from Singapore and Malaysia. Encore Films is also the official distributor/licensee of Studio Ghibli titles in Singapore and in 2023, expanded its scope to Southeast Asia and in India in 2024 beginning with The Boy and the Heron.

In 2023, Encore Films expanded its distribution operations to the Philippines and Thailand with the release of Makoto Shinkai's Suzume, with Warner Bros. Pictures overseeing theatrical distribution in these aforementioned territories alongside Malaysia and in Singapore itself for select titles. Alongside Warner Bros. Pictures in key territories in Southeast Asia, Encore Films also co-distributes its output through local distributor partners such as Golden Village Pictures in Singapore, GSC Movies in Malaysia, CBI Pictures in Indonesia and CGV in Vietnam.

Some films only have this logo (like in the case of the Singaporean theatrical release of The Boy and the Heron) or it may show a local distributor, depending on the territory.
