Background

WFXT, operated on channel 25 and formerly WXNE-TV, is a television station in Boston, Massachusetts, affiliated with Fox and owned by Cox Media Group. It was originally one of the network's O&O station due to the station's market size from 1987 to 1990 and 1995 to 2014, but then due to a swap with KTVU-TV, it got out as just a normal affiliate and became the largest Fox affiliate to not be owned by the network. The station's branded itself as "Boston 25" since then.

1st Logo (1987-1988)

Visuals: The generic FOX ident template is seen, with the station's channel number being "25", the call-sign being "WFXT-TV", and the city being "Boston".

Variant: There's a variant where here, the number "25", the gold word "WFXT", and the white text "Fox Television Stations, MA", from top to bottom, are seen on a wavy dark blue background.

Technique: CGI, still for the variant

Audio: A dramatic fanfare, which is also used for the other stations' variants of the template.

2nd Logo (1990-1992)

Visuals: There are two variants:

  • a: Rectangles, including green and purple ones; the word "FOX", which has orange shade on the sides; and the silver number "25", are seen moving sides-to-sides with some comet stars flying down meanwhile. A green rectangle and purple rectangle then both reveal a big vertical rectangle moving forward a bit with the "FOX" word, station's number and name landing on it.
  • b: On a black background, a brown fox is seen doing the same posture as Boston Celtic's mascot in their logo (as they are WFXT's owner at the time) with the shirt it's wearing having the number "25" and a basketball spinning on it's finger. And behind, there's a green circle which has the text "THE BOSTON FOX" at the left and "WFXT-TV" at the right. A spotlight then shines on the fox as it moves and leads to the circle fading out. It then runs to the right while bouncing the ball, and then stops and dribbles a little bit before shooting it to the hoop. After the ball goes in, the hoop's net fades out and it's rim turns into the black letter "O". It then rotates to face the screen while zooming out, with two other letters "F" and "X" come from both horizontal sides of the screen to form the word "FOX". There's also a gray rectangle moving from the top left which the word "FOX" soon lands above, a green rectangle moving from the top right which has the number "25" then slides to the center of it from the rectangle's bottom left, and the text "THE BOSTON FOX WFXT-TV" and a purple rectangle also flies from both the right & left sides flies to the middle below and the text then stops above the rectangle. The background also slowly changes from black to tan with patterns on it.

Technique: CGI, with some traditional animation for the fox.

Audio:

  • a: A cheerful triumphant tune.
  • b: An extended version of the first variant's tune.
