Background

Presto is the proprietary software developed and used in-house by Pixar Animation Studios in the animation of its features and short films, named after the studio's 2008 short film of the same name, Presto. Unlike Renderman, Presto is not available for sale and is only used by Pixar. As a result, little is known outside Pixar about the detailed workings of this software.

1st Logo (June 10, 2012)


Visuals: There is the caption "ANIMATED WITH". Underneath it is "PRESTO" , in the same font of where the logo was seen, with "ANIMATION SYSTEM" under it.

Technique: An still graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen only on Brave.

2nd Logo (June 5, 2013)


Visuals: Same as the last logo, but the "PRESTO" text is in an university font.

Technique: An still graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen only on Monsters University.

3rd Logo (May 18, 2015)


Visuals: Same as the last logos, but the "PRESTO" text is in the same font as the end credits.

Technique: An still graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen only on Inside Out.

4th Logo (November 10, 2015-June 11, 2019, June 13, 2021)

Visuals: The same as the last logos, but "PRESTO" is now in the TT Fors font.

Technique: An still graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Debuted on The Good Dinosaur, and last appeared on Toy Story 4. Despiste the next logo being introduced in 2020, it made an surprise reappearance in Luca.

5th Logo (February 21, 2020-)

Visuals: There is an magic hat with bunny ears sticking out. On the right is the bold words "PRESTO", with the captions on the top and bottom "ANIMATED WITH" and "ANIMATION SYSTEM".

Trivia: As already mentioned in the background, this logo was inspired by the studio's 2008 short film, Presto.

Variant: On Lightyear, there is no text above or below the logo.

Technique: A still graphic. This was designed by Portland-based Parakeet.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Debuted on Onward, and has appeared on every film from Pixar ever since. This logo did not appear on Luca, with the last logo being used instead.
