Background

Dorling Kindersley Vision was a media division of the Dorling Kindersley publishing company, founded in 1991. They were known for producing educational TV shows and videos including Eyewitness, Amazing Animals, and See How They Grow.

1st Logo (1990's)

Logo: On a white background, the camera pans down to a CGI book. We see the words “DORLING KINDERSLEY Vision" in grey fade in underneath while one of the pages of the book flips. When the page finishes turning, we see the letters "DK" in gold.

Variants:

  • This logo sometimes appeared as a still image after the end credits.
  • A closing variant exists, where the animation is reversed with the label name omitted.

FX/SFX: The book opening and the text fading in.

Music/Sounds: Two notes that sound like bells followed by some descending chimes, ending with a single flute note.

Music/Sounds Variant:

  • Sometimes the ending theme plays over the logo, or it remains silent.
  • The closing variant has the same music without the flute note.

Availability: Rare. Can be seen on home video releases of "Eyewitness" and "See How They Grow".

2nd Logo (1996-1999)

Logo: On a white background, we see the the standard print version of the Dorling Kindersley logo with the letters "DK" in red, along with the Partridge Films logo underneath it.

FX/SFX: None.
