Background

Disney Premiere Cinema was a video label of Walt Disney Home Video. It mostly distributed movies that aired on The Disney Sunday Movie. The label was mostly seen on VHS tapes from the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Sweden, Greece, and Denmark, among others.

Logo (1986-1992)

Visuals: On a starfield background, the word Disney (in silver, and in its corporate font) zooms toward the viewer, disappearing past the bottom of the frame and leaving a trail. As this happens, a purple and pink gradient fades above, and Spaceship Earth can be seen over the trail. The camera zooms above Spaceship Earth and into the sky. A flash of blue light appears, and we see a Mickey Mouse satellite flying to the right over a blue vector pattern. The camera then moves over the vector, and zooms toward a glowing white Sleeping Beauty castle that's surrounded by red rays of light. The scene crossfades to a live action cameraman on a bluish background. The cameraman pulls back towards the viewer until the camera's eyepiece fills the screen. In the eyepiece, the text DISNEY PREMIERE CINEMA is seen, colored in a blue-to-pink gradient. The text is on a lavender and ocean blue background. A glowing white Sleeping Beauty castle is in the far right.

Variants:

  • The short version starts with the scene of the cameraman, and features the word "PRESENTS" in a silver gradient serif font below the logo.
  • A variant exists that has "Coming Soon" in teal fading in below the logo.
  • A 4-second variant exists.
  • A black background variant exists.
  • On UK releases, the text reads "COMING SOON FROM" in a serif font on a pink-white-blue background appears before it flips to the still Disney Premiere Cinema logo.
  • On Australian tapes, the logo is slightly longer; after the scene of the white castle, a shot of a parade is seen before cutting to footage from movies such as Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, The Rescuers, and Fantasia before crossfading to the scene of the cameraman. Within the eyepiece, there is a clapboard on a blue background; Tinker Bell appears and taps it, with a burst of light turning it into the Disney Premiere Cinema logo (which is outlined in white).
    • On Australian tapes distributed by Roadshow Home Video, only the end product is seen, with the text "DISTRIBUTED BY" below it.
  • On Greek releases, the logo has "ΠΡΟΣΕΧΩΣ" text written in pink.

Technique: CGI with some live-action.

Audio: The theme to The Disney Sunday Movie, which is a synthesized rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star".
