Background

Disney Original Special is a label of The Walt Disney Company, created in 2022 to likely produce television specials, movies and shorts.

Logo (November 27, 2022-)

Visuals: On a black-dark blue gradient background with dark blue shapes moving to the right in the foreground, there is the corporate Disney logo in 3D and colored metallic blue, as a light shines on it, lighting it up in the process while it zooms out a bit. Underneath is the white text "Original Special" in a basic font. A outline of a Mickey head can be seen forming above the logo.

Trivia: The background in this logo can be also seen in the Disney Channel/Disney+/Disney Junior TV spot to celebrate Disney Channel's 40th anniversary in 2023, as well as Disney Channel's "General Audience" bumpers and the Disney Channel Rewind promo from the same year (albeit the background is purplish-blue with shading lines and the metallic version of the wordmark of the 2014 DC logo is used instead).

Variants:

  • A longer version exists where a flash reveals blue lines streaking to the side before going onto the usual animation.
  • Sometimes, the below text is absent.
  • On original movies, "Original Special" is replaced by "Original Movie".
  • On The Shepherd, the logo is in black and white.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None or the opening/closing theme of the special/movie/short.

Availability:

  • It first appeared on Mickey Saves Christmas, and later appeared on Le Pupille, The Slumber Party, Mickey and Friends: Trick or Treats, The Naughty Nine and The Shepherd. The textless variant appears on Doctor Who episodes starting with "The Star Beast", albeit only on international Disney+ releases. The UK releases of the specials omit this logo entirely.
