Background

Digital Kids was a Japanese video game developer and publisher that was formed in 1996. Its most notable titles were the Petz series. It was sold to Ubisoft in 2007, and it was renamed to Ubisoft Nagoya.


1st Logo (August 22, 1997-July 16, 1999)

Visuals: On a reddish-white background, there is the word "Digital Kids" in a bold handwritten script font. The copyright symbol and year in a Times-esque font is shown above.

Variants:

  • On the 1998 Japanese PSX game of Shake Kids, no copyright symbol and year is shown. The background is also in white.
  • Beginning with the 1999 Japanese GBC game of Dino Breeder 3: Gaia Fukkatsu, the text is in rainbow colors and the background is in greenish-white.
    • On the 1999 Japanese GBC game of Golf Ou: The King of Golf, the logo slides down from the top screen, and the copies of two shrinked logos slides from both sides vertically inside the logo, and make it disappear to complete the logo. No copyright symbol and year is shown above the logo. The background is also in white.

Technique: A still, sprite-based graphic or 2D computer animation.

Audio: None, but on the 1999 Japanese GBC game of Golf Ou, when the logo is finished, a Japanese announcer says the company name.

Availability: Seen on most Japanese SGB and GBC titles by the company, such as the first three games of Dino Breeder series and Golf Ou: The King of Golf. It was also seen on the 1998 Japanese PSX game of Shake Kids.

2nd Logo (October 7, 1999-2000's)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a green oval with a two big yellow letters, a flipped "D" and a "K" inside. Below it is the black company name in Japanese.

Variant: On the 1999 Japanese PSX game of Wonder B Cruise, the same text from the previous logo, this time in rainbow colors, is shown below. The background is also in greenish-white.

Technique: A still, sprite-based graphic.

Audio: None, but on the 1999 Japanese PSX game of Wonder B Cruise, a Japanese announcer says the company name.

Availability: Only seen on the 1999 Japanese PSX game of Wonder B Cruise, the 2000 GBC game of Dino Breeder 4 and the 2002 GBC game of Konchuu Fighters.

3rd Logo (November 2, 2006-December 13, 2007)


Visuals: On a white background, there are eight red and blue dots appear one by one (four dots on top, four dots on bottom), and once it appears, it rotates. As it stops, "D" slides from the left, "K" slides from the right, and a blue dot slides from the right to complete the logo. The text "©2006 Digital Kids" fades in on the top screen as it finishes.

Variant:

  • On the 2006 American DS game of Hamster Life by Ubisoft, as the logo finishes the following text in black fades in:
    ©2006 DIGITAL KIDS. All rights reserved.
    Published and distributed by Ubisoft Entertainment

  • Beginning with the 2007 Japanese DS game of KuruKuru Princess, the logo is still.

Audio: A childish orchestral tune. None for 2007 releases.

Availability: Seen on most Japanese DS titles by the company, such as Love Love Hamster and the first two games of KuruKuru Princess series.
