Background

Digi, also commonly referred to as RCS & RDS, is a Romanian telecommunications company. It was founded in 1994 as RCS (Romanian Cable Systems) and later launched a sub-brand named RDS (Romanian Data Systems) in 1998. The two merged together in April 2005, forming RCS & RDS. Both names continued to be used until October 2009.

In November 2004, a sub-brand of RCS named Digi was launched. It would take over the initially formed RCS & RDS company in October 2009, but the previous name is still used.



1st Tag (October 2009-April 2010)

Visuals: After the commercial plays, there are some aqua stripes forming a background, in which more stripes, in a darker blue, form the Digi logo alongside its slogan PENTRU FAMILIA TA.

Variants:

  • From late December 2009 and early January 2010, a commercial was aired featuring the RCS & RDS logo, with a Santa hat on, alongside the text "MULȚUMEȘTE ABONAȚILOR ȘI PARTENERILOR PENTRU ANUL 2009 PETRECUT ÎMPREUNĂ ȘI VĂ UREAZĂ CRĂCIUN FERICIT!" on a snowy background. It begun with a similar stripe transition that was used in the main commercials of this time. This ad was aired only for Christmas.
  • A commercial aired in March 2010 shows the Digi logo fade above its at-the-time 4 subscriptions (Digi TV, Digi Net, Digi Tel and Digi Mobil, which have folders in blue, green, gray and pink respectively).

Audio: An announcer saying "Digi, pentru familia ta." alongside a 5-note jingle.

Audio Variants:

  • Various variations of the ad's jingle exist, that change the instruments. Those are: a guitar, a bell-like synth tone, beeping and an accordion. The synth tone is also played in the 2010 endtag.
  • In the Christmas endtag, a narrator is heard reading out the text shown on-screen while bells are heard in the background.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period, most notably the Cronica Cârcotașilor-sponsored ads.

2nd Tag (December 13, 2013-September 1, 2017)

Visuals: On a white background, there is the Digi logo alongside its slogan Pentru familia ta written in blue.

Variants:

  • The ad also comes in different aspect ratios.
  • In an ad from November 2014 are various squares forming a blue gradient with the Digi logo, its slogan and its URL on it. This ad was briefly reused in 2017, albeit using a zooming animation instead.
  • Starting with April 2015, the company URL and phone number were added below the logo.
  • In March 2017, a reflection was added below the Digi logo, as well as a zooming animation on the slogan.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period, most of them being the "Belgravistan" commercials.

3rd Tag (September 1, 2017-June 22, 2018)

Visuals: On a white background, there is the Digi logo with its slogan "telefonie internet televiziune" zooming in and out below it. The company URL and phone number are also visible.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The 5-note jingle from the previous logos.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period. This wasn't used on many commercials, thus leading it to only be used on ads advertising phones.

4th Tag (June 22, 2018-August 27, 2018)

Visuals: On a white background, the Digi logo zooms in, then the contact info appears below it.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The 5-note jingle from the previous logos.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period. This wasn't used on many commercials, thus leading it to only be used on ads advertising phones.

5th Tag (August 27, 2018-October 15, 2018)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background, the Digi logo slowly zooms in, while its slogan and URL form below.

Variants:

  • When the endtag was first introduced, it showed a "transition" animation between the RCS & RDS logo and the new Digi logo.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The 5-note jingle from the previous logos.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period, such as the commercial it was introduced in named after the slogan "Conectați #Nelimitat".

6th Tag (October 15, 2018-March 21, 2019)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background, there is the Digi logo, its slogan and its URL in white.

Variants:

  • An inverted variant exists, in which the background is white and the rest of the elements in the ad are blue.
  • The inverted variant has a longer variant in which the slogan is replaced by "CONTINUĂM SPIRITUL INOVATOR at the beginning.
  • The slogan may appear straight in the inverted variant.
  • In later commercials, the Digi logo slides alongside its slogan, while the URL pops up below them.

7th Tag (October 15, 2018-2020)

Visuals: On a white background, there is the Digi logo, its slogan and its URL.

Variants:

  • A variant visually identical to the 5th logo also exists. It plays out using a wipe transition and uses the updated Digi branding instead of the anniversary one.
  • In some ad endcaps, the logo is placed on a blue light with the entire logo being white. It starts with a zoom or a wipe and may also feature a bolder or lighter slogan.
  • A 2019 endtag features a tech-like background swiping from the left, in which the Digi logo is contained, then the "Conectați" part of the slogan slides below. "#Nelimitat" is later revealed behind the first part of the slogan, and then the URL fades at the bottom.
  • A faster version of the 2019 endtag exists as well.
  • There's also a shorter version of the 2019 endtag, in which it starts directly at the slogan animation and no URL fades below.
  • During Easter 2020, the regular endcap was slightly modified and also played with a transition at the beginning.
  • For business ads in 2020, the "glow" variant contained a still of the Digi logo with the slogan fading below it.
  • The business endtag has a faster version as well.
  • Some ads have a short zoom-in animation of the logo, slogan and URL in the blue room-like background.
  • In 2020, for ads containing phone promotions, the Digi logo alongside its slogan and URL get formed via a shine. This was replaced after a short while.
  • An overhauled endtag for phone promotions features a blue room-like background in which the Digi logo, its slogan and additional information fade in.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period, most notably the "Bucurii Nelimitate" ads from 2020.

8th Tag (2020-February 4, 2021)

Visuals: Over a blue gradient background, the logo starts with various colored squares, alongside their outlines, move around in the center of the screen, which eventually merge creating the Digi letters. A shine forms in the middle, inverting the colors of the logo and making the slogan and URL visible.

Variants:

  • There's also a variant where everything after the shine doesn't happen, and instead the slogan just fades below the Digi logo.

Technique: Computer animation, with some CGI effects.

Audio: None or the commercial's sound.

Availability: Can be seen on Digi ads from the time period, most notably a remake of the "Bucurii Nelimitate" ad from a few months prior to the logo's introduction.
